Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Outside Sales Representative to grow Work Truck West’s market presence throughout BC and Alberta. This is a high-visibility territory role with strong earning potential, and the opportunity to build long term customer partnerships across Western Canada. The successful candidate will drive revenue growth by winning new business, expanding key accounts, and delivering truck solutions that solve real operational challenges. This role is ideal for a self-directed sales professional who enjoys owning a territory, building relationships with decision-makers, and creating measurable business impact in the field. Success in this position is measured by territory growth, new account acquisition, and long-term customer retention.

Responsibilities

Territory Growth & Business Development

  • Develop and execute a structured territory sales plan to grow revenue and market share.
  • Prospect and generate new business opportunities through cold calling, referrals, networking, site visits, and industry events.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities within municipalities, utility companies, contractors, landscapers, truck dealers, heavy construction / Ag dealers, and commercial fleet operators.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities using CRM tools.
  • Consistently expand the customer base within assigned territory.

Strategic Account Management

  • Build long-term relationships with key decision-makers and procurement teams.
  • Develop account strategies for top customers to maximize long-term revenue growth.
  • Position Work Truck West as a trusted advisor and preferred supplier.
  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts and fleets.
  • Maintain strong customer retention through proactive communication and service support.

Consultative Solution Selling

  • Work closely with customers to understand operational requirements, fleet needs, and jobsite challenges.
  • Recommend and design truck solutions including service bodies, dump bodies, crane
  • trucks, mechanics trucks, and snow and ice equipment.
  • Develop quotations, proposals, and equipment specifications in collaboration with internal engineering and production teams.
  • Present solutions clearly and confidently to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Manage sales opportunities from initial contact through order confirmation and delivery.

Sales Process & Administration

  • Maintain accurate records of all customer interactions, opportunities, and forecasts in CRM.
  • Provide regular territory updates, pipeline reports, and sales forecasts.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and pricing dynamics.
  • Support municipal tenders, RFQs, and RFP processes where required.
  • Ensure follow-up on quotes, orders, and customer requests is timely and professional.

Collaboration & Internal Coordination

  • Work closely with engineering, production, procurement, and service teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Coordinate customer requirements to ensure accuracy in specifications and delivery timelines.
  • Participate in internal planning meetings to align on sales strategy and production scheduling

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a driven, disciplined, and customer-focused sales professional who thrives in a performance-based environment and wants to grow with a respected, expanding company.

Experience & Education

  • 3–5+ years of outside sales, account management, or business development experience.
  • Experience in one or more of the following is strongly preferred:

- Commercial trucks or truck equipment

- Heavy equipment or construction equipment sales

- Commercial fleet sales

- Municipal or government procurement sales

- Agricultural or industrial equipment sales

  • Post-secondary education in business, sales, marketing, or a related field is an asset.

Skills & Attributes

  • Proven track record of prospecting new business and growing territory revenue.
  • Strong ability to manage complex sales cycles and multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong territory planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to operate independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand technical product applications.
  • High level of professionalism and customer service focus.
  • Comfortable working in the field and travelling regularly throughout the territory.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Valid driver’s licence required.

Compensation

  • $60,000 Starting Base Salary + Uncapped Commission (Earnings aligned with experience and performance)
