Halton & Mississauga Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinic is an outpatient addiction medicine clinic that provides expert assessment, brief counselling, and medication-assisted treatment for patients experiencing a variety of substance use disorders including opioids, alcohol, stimulants, cannabis, and smoking cessation.

Our services are 100% covered by OHIP, and all patients are under the care of doctors with expertise in addiction medicine. We offer same day virtual care or walk-in service, with immediate access to Methadone and Suboxone programs for opioid addiction, and medication-assisted treatment for addiction involving alcohol or other substances. We provide both short-term stabilization and longer-term follow-up care. Patients are also connected with addiction counselling and other supports to assist in their recovery.

Job description

We are seeking to hire a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) who is passionate about helping some of the most vulnerable and marginalized members of our society: those suffering from the disease of addiction. The RPN's clinical duties will include: conducting patient interviews, recording medical histories, conducting physical and laboratory examinations, and collaborating with our physicians and clinic team to establish and assess treatment plans. The role will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, and will also involve liaising with social workers, case workers, and health care professionals, and providing counselling and education and patients and their families regarding addiction, relapse prevention, stress-reduction, and mental health topics. The RPN is expected to develop specialized skills in addiction medicine through formal education, ongoing training and on-the-job experience.

The RPN ideally is a caring, energetic and flexible person who works well under pressure and provides efficient and professional support to all clients.

Clinic Manager and Medical Director

Education and Qualifications

  • RPN or RN certification in good standing
  • 3-5 years in previous nursing role
  • Knowledge and working experience in the addiction or mental health field
  • Prior work experience in an addiction or RAAM clinic is a strong asset
  • Completion of the CAMH Opioid Use Disorder Course is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Friendly, compassionate, non-judgmental nature
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task and solve problems
  • Keen attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate problems and form solutions
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Dedication to maintaining confidentiality of all patient records
  • Experience using EMR software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good comfort level working with computers and technology, including solving the invariable problems which arise involving software and hardware

Location: In-office work at our Mississauga clinic location, with possible hybrid work arrangement.

Compensation: Compensation for the role will be aligned with candidate’s education (RPN or RN), skills and experience.
