About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Supervisor, Mine Operations to join our Mount Milligan Mine team.

Reporting to the Mine Operations General Foreman, the Mine Operations Supervisor will be responsible for the supervision of Mine Operations Technicians (Equipment Operators & Truck Drivers) in the control room and out in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, plan and lead the safe operation of all mine mobile equipment throughout the shift.
  • Coordinate mine operations activities with other departments and contractors.
  • Train and develop a diverse workforce in the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Provide effective leadership to build a strong employee culture.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with the development of operating procedures.
  • Ensure a high level of quality and production standards.
  • Ensures a safe working environment is created for the team.
  • Capturing, validate and record mine site data through the modular mining system.
  • Completing shift and production reports in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Serve as central communication personnel for mine production and safety, including emergency events.

About You

Our ideal candidate will possess the following skillset and experience:

  • 5 years supervisory experience in a hard rock mining setting preferred.
  • Possess current British Columbia Shift Boss Certification.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain motivation of crews.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs ie. Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • MineStar experience is considered an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Camp-based role working 12-hour days on a 14 day on, 14 day off rotation, with accommodation provided during rotation.
  • Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments, heavy equipment, noise, and moving parts.
  • PPE always required.
  • Safety-sensitive environment with zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy.
  • Bus transportation provided from regional locations.
