Full job description

As Cook/ Kitchen Helper you will have a dual role within our Food Services team. In this role, you will be responsible for food preparation, cooking, and ensuring food safety standards are met. Reporting to the Food Services Manager, you will utilize your restaurant and kitchen experience to deliver high-quality meals while further developing your culinary skills in a supportive and dynamic setting.

The candidate will work on an as-needed basis, with shifts generally 8 hours in length. Shifts may vary based on operational needs and may include short-notice work, nights, weekends, and public holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with food preparation and cooking according to established menus and recipes.
  • Help prepare and serve meals in a timely and safe manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, equipment, and work areas.
  • Follow food safety and proper food handling procedures.
  • Assist with various kitchen tasks as needed.
  • Provide friendly and respectful service to residents, family members, and visitors.
  • Work collaboratively with the Food Services team.

Requirements

  • Previous cooking or food service experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work respectfully and effectively as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Food Safe Certification.
  • First Aid Certification or willing to complete within the first 3 months.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check for Vulnerable Sector.
