Full job description

As the hotel General Manager, you will be responsible for all operations, staff managements and deliver exceptional guest experiences. Provide leadership and strategic planning to all departments in support of our service culture, maximize operations, and guest satisfaction.

Assume overall responsibility for all departments and operations of the hotel and restaurant.
Manage all human resources functions including recruitment, training, schedules, coaching, supervision, payroll, and performance management.

Job Duties:

· Provide the highest level of customer service to guests and associates alike

· Oversee and assist with sales & marketing, promotions and advertising

· Ability to identify operational performance, productivity and efficiency gaps and implement measures to correct deficiencies

· Build teamwork across departments

· Must be able to prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports to include forecasting, labour control and revenue reports

· Have a thorough understanding of revenue management

· Must be highly focused on Sales at the hotel on a daily, weekly and monthly basis through relationship building and community involvement

· Monitor and execute the daily, weekly, monthly sales action steps as outlined in the marketing plan and lead the sales team to high levels of revenue generation

· Have a thorough knowledge of necessary cost controls and procedures to maximize monthly and annual profits

· Protects the hotel and its assets through enforcing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program

· Take action to maximize revenues and reduce/control costs

· Provide vision and leadership to department heads and associates, and encourage the growth and financial viability of the company

· Prepare and submit reports as required

· Allocate material, human and financial resources to implement organizational and departmental policies and programs; establish financial and administrative controls; formulate and approve promotional campaigns

· Liaise with outside vendors and negotiate prices for products and services as required.

· Prepare budgets and monitor expenses

· Assure service standards of excellence are in place in all guest areas

· Address guest relations issues, respond to comments and complaints

· Implement and follow approved policies and procedures

· Inspect property and ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations

· Inspect hotel for cleanliness and good working order; ensure preventive measures are taken, supplies ordered

· Participate in community business events and maintain a positive public image for the hotel including representation at tourism and business associations.

· Preside over food and beverage establishment

· 'Hands-on' management style with a willingness to assist associates as required

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set priorities for self and others

· Ability to develop and motivate staff to achieve challenging goals

· On call and work evenings and weekends as appropriate depending on business volumes and events

Job Requirements:

· Previous experience in a hotel management role in a like sized property

· Possess leadership skills to motivate and train staff to ensure accomplishment of goals.

· Excellent decision-making ability and analytical skills

· Be able to multi-task various job duties daily

· Ability to work flexible schedules
