About FinePrint

FinePrint is a fine-casual Continental restaurant with a soft French influence, located in the original 1887 Calgary Herald building on Stephen Avenue. We operate three venues: FinePrint, The Herald Room (corporate private dining), and a semi-private owners lounge called Heavily Redacted. We have built a reputation for best-in-class hospitality and a guest experience where every detail matters.

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on General Manager who leads from the floor, owns the numbers, and takes personal responsibility for the guest experience every night. This is not a coordinator role. It is a leadership role with direct accountability to ownership.

What You Will Do

  • Own FOH operations entirely — service standards, team deployment, table management, guest satisfaction
  • Oversee BOH operations
  • Hire, train, schedule, and develop a front-of-house team that guests remember
  • Manage OpenTable — optimize covers, manage waitlists, protect the guest experience
  • Submit weekly P&L commentary to ownership — labour, beverage cost, covers, average spend — on time, with context
  • Oversee POS accuracy, cash handling, tip reconciliation, and daily financial close
  • Coordinate Herald Room private dining bookings end-to-end — proposals, menus, execution
  • Collaborate weekly with the Executive Chef on covers forecasts, event programming, and service flow
  • Represent FinePrint in the community — hotel concierge relationships, corporate account development, Stephen Avenue Business Alliance

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years FOH leadership experience; GM or AGM in fine dining or premium casual required
  • Financial literacy — you read a P&L fluently and manage labour to budget
  • Genuine hospitality — guests feel it the moment they walk in
  • Calm under pressure, accountable without being told, collaborative with ownership
  • OpenTable, POS, and scheduling software proficiency

Compensation

  • Base salary: $70,000 – $85,000 commensurate with experience
  • Performance bonus tied to labour targets, guest satisfaction, and revenue milestones
  • Equity consideration available for exceptional performers a
  • Health benefits at 3 months (Olympia Health)
  • 2 weeks vacation (year 1), 3 weeks (year 2+)
  • Relocation negotiable for the right candidate
