Madras Mami is a premier South Indian fine dining restaurant, offering an exceptional experience with a menu full of traditional flavors and dishes. We pride ourselves on delivering impeccable service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for every guest. We are looking for a highly experienced and professional Server to join our team and help provide an outstanding dining experience.

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, friendly, and presentable Server with a passion for hospitality and a deep understanding of Indian cuisine. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in a fine-dining restaurant, excellent communication skills, and a fluent command of English. You will be responsible for providing high-quality service, assisting customers with menu selections, and ensuring their dining experience is memorable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Provide a warm, professional welcome to all guests, ensuring they are comfortably seated and promptly attended to.
  • Menu Knowledge: Be highly knowledgeable about the menu, including South Indian specialties like dosas, idlis, biryanis, and accompaniments like chutneys and sambar. Be able to describe dishes to guests and make recommendations based on dietary preferences.
  • Order Taking & Delivery: Accurately take food and beverage orders, relay orders to the kitchen in a timely manner, and ensure that all items are delivered to the correct table and served at the appropriate temperature.
  • Food & Beverage Pairing: Assist guests with pairing food and beverages, offering suggestions for traditional drinks that complement their meals (e.g., lassi, masala chai, etc.).
  • Table Maintenance: Ensure that tables are always clean, set properly, and ready for guests. Clear plates and glassware promptly, and reset tables as necessary.
  • Guest Interaction: Maintain a positive and professional attitude while interacting with customers. Address any questions or concerns they may have with a solution-oriented approach.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the kitchen and other front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service. Assist in other duties, such as bussing tables and restocking supplies.
  • Upselling & Sales: Proactively upsell menu items and beverages, contributing to the restaurant’s revenue goals.
  • Cleanliness & Hygiene: Ensure that workstations and dining areas adhere to cleanliness and health standards at all times.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a server in a fine dining restaurant, preferably with experience in Indian cuisine or South Indian restaurants.
  • Fluency in English: Must have strong verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to engage with customers and understand their needs.
  • Presentable Appearance: Well-groomed, with a professional appearance and positive attitude. Attention to personal hygiene and presentation is crucial.
  • Customer-Focused: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide exceptional service and anticipate guest needs.
  • Multitasking: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tables and guest requests.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a smooth and effective service operation.
  • Attention to Detail: Must be detail-oriented, ensuring accurate orders and service delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Indian fine dining or upscale restaurant environments.
  • Knowledge of traditional South Indian dishes and beverages.
  • Additional language skills (e.g., Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam) are a plus but not required.
  • Prior experience using POS (Point of Sale) systems.
