Who We Are

Dealtwith is Calgary's restaurant repair and maintenance quarterback. Through a proprietary app, clients submit service tickets ranging from handyman tasks to complex mechanical issues, handled by a permanent staff of two handymen and a plumber, with specialized trades contracted as needed.

Dealtwith is expanding and looking for a skilled Commercial Appliance Repair Technician to join the team. This is a hands-on, autonomous role built around restaurant kitchen equipment, servicing some of Calgary's most popular restaurants.

The Role

You will be the dedicated appliance technician for Dealtwith's growing roster of restaurant and hospitality clients. The work is largely gas appliance repair and preventive maintenance, with some mechanical work on ice machines (refrigeration outsourced to a partner). Bakery equipment experience is a strong asset, we look after several bakery clients and are actively growing that side of the business.

Equipment You Will Work On

Primary - Gas Appliances

  • Deep fryers and commercial fryers
  • Ranges, flat tops, and griddles
  • Combi ovens (Rational and other brands)
  • Pasta boilers and commercial steamers
  • Salamanders and broilers
  • Pilot light systems and thermocouple replacement

Ice Machines - Mechanical PM (Refrigeration Outsourced)

  • Preventive maintenance on Manitowoc, Hoshizaki, and Scotsman units
  • Float switch, cam arm, and spring replacement etc.
  • Drain clearing and mechanical servicing
  • Willingness to troubleshoot less common and off-brand units

Bakery Equipment (Asset)

  • Deck ovens and commercial proofers
  • Commercial stand mixers and dough equipment
  • Specialty baking appliances

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair commercial kitchen appliances across gas, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance on high-use kitchen equipment on a scheduled basis
  • Carry out ice machine PMs including mechanical parts replacement and drain servicing
  • Use schematics and manufacturer manuals to troubleshoot effectively
  • Document equipment with serial and model numbers using the Dealtwith app and QR asset tracking
  • Manage a small parts inventory in your service van; order specialty parts as needed
  • Test all appliances post-repair to confirm correct function and performance
  • Communicate clearly with client staff and Dealtwith team on job status and findings

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson certification (Red Seal preferred) or equivalent provincial certification
  • Proven hands-on experience with commercial kitchen equipment repair
  • Strong knowledge of gas appliance systems, burners, pilots, thermocouples, gas valves
  • Familiarity with Rational combi ovens is compensated at a premium rate
  • Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in a commercial kitchen context
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals
  • Comfortable troubleshooting unfamiliar or off-brand equipment
  • Bakery equipment experience is a significant asset
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Valid driver's licence and clean driving record
  • Calgary-based or willing to relocate prior to start date

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting from $40/hour based on experience and certifications
  • Premium pay rate for Rational oven expertise
  • Paid weekly
  • Guaranteed 30 hours per week; up to 40 hours standard
  • Overtime available for after-hours and weekend calls, always optional, never mandatory
