Do you love fitness, motivating others, and creating a welcoming environment? As a Fitness Centre Attendant, you'll inspire and support people on their wellness journeys by welcoming clients to the fitness centre, creating personalized workout programs, sharing fitness expertise, and helping members build confidence in the weight room. You'll play a key role in promoting healthy, active lifestyles, providing guidance on fitness and community wellness resources, responding to client questions and concerns, and ensuring equipment is safe, clean, and ready to use. This is a dynamic, people-focused role that offers independence, variety, and the opportunity to make a positive impact every day while helping others achieve their fitness goals. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 and the BC Recreation and Parks Association Fitness Theory and Weight Training, supplemented by courses in recreation, plus sound related experience including training/experience in the area of expertise or completion of a two year Community Recreation program from a recognized Community College, plus some related experience including training/experience in the area of expertise and related certifications; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will bring sound knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of individual weight training and fitness programs and of the various types of weight training equipment; and of a specialized area within the industry such as sport-specific training, personal training, fitness appraisals or group fitness. You will have the ability to determine individuals' fitness levels, develop individual weight training and fitness programs, and provide advice, guidance and referral services relative to health and fitness; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and deal tactfully with a variety of clients. Skill in the operation of a variety of weight training equipment used in the programs, along with the ability to prepare and maintain records, activity reports and equipment maintenance records. Additionally, you’ll bring sound knowledge of applicable policies, regulations and rules governing the work performed. A First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Level C certifications are required. Please note that a Police Information Check may be required for this position.

Pay Rate: $31.58 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits

Location: Christine Sinclair Community Centre, Edmonds Community Centre, Eileen Dailly Leisure Pool & Fitness Centre, Bonsor Recreation Complex, Cameron Community Centre, and Willingdon Community Centre.

Hours of work: This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work. Typical shifts range from Monday to Sunday, 6:00am to 10:00pm.
