Full job description

Reporting to the Manager, Judgment Services the incumbent manages the debt recovery accounts for various clients through litigation. This includes attending to all pre and post-judgment steps required to exercise creditor’s rights. The individual must be able to provide excellent customer service, self-driven, enjoy challenges, be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to use his/her own initiative and manage time effectively.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing civil claim process from beginning to end in various provinces for debt recovery work.
  • Managing Enforcement of Judgment. Working with the enforcement team to recover assets.
  • Able to efficiently prepare legal and administrative correspondence and documents including Civil Law pleading
  • Client Communication. Receive instructions and provide timely updates to the client.
  • Debtor Communication. Help the debtor understand their options and encourage them to make restitution.
  • Input information to custom systems. Keep detailed records of file activity.
  • Collaborate with team members to share strategies and assist with the team workload.
  • Data entry and general administrative duties.

Skills, Abilities and Educational Background

  • Paralegal/ Legal assistant certification or equivalency.
  • Experience as a Litigation Paralegal or Legal assistant.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Strong computer skills and confidence in learning new systems.
  • Experience with Windows and general office equipment
  • Commitment to provide excellent client service with an open attitude to working with a diverse population.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.

The following would be considered an asset

  • Knowledge of French Language
  • Knowledge of civil litigation in provinces other than Alberta

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $40,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
