Clamp Truck / Forklift Operator – Paper Department

Location: Langley, BC

Bulldog Bag Ltd., one of Western Canada's leading paper bag manufacturers, is seeking an experienced, safety-focused Clamp Truck / Forklift Operator to join our Paper Department.

Primary Responsibility

Reporting to the Purchasing and Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of clamp trucks and counterbalance forklifts to transport large paper rolls and production materials throughout our manufacturing facility. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), finished goods, and scrap materials to support uninterrupted production operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport large paper rolls using clamp trucks.
  • Move raw materials from receiving areas to storage locations and production lines.
  • Transport work-in-progress (WIP) materials between departments to maintain continuous production.
  • Move finished goods to the warehouse and shipping areas.
  • Load and unload trucks and containers safely and efficiently.
  • Handle raw materials, including paper rolls and resin.
  • Remove scrap, recycling, and waste materials to designated disposal areas.
  • Transfer scrap materials to designated trailers.
  • Supply empty pallets and production materials to manufacturing departments as required.
  • Organize warehouse and storage areas to minimize product damage and unnecessary handling.
  • Perform daily pre-shift inspections of forklifts and clamp trucks.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of material movements.
  • Follow all Food Safety, Product Quality, Health & Safety, and company operating procedures.
  • Assist other departments and supervisors with additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience operating clamp trucks in a manufacturing, warehouse, paper products, or similar industrial environment.
  • Valid Counterbalance Forklift Certification (or ability to obtain certification immediately upon hire).
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe equipment operation.
  • Ability to read work instructions, complete production paperwork, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, standing or walking for the duration of the shift, and performing frequent bending, reaching, and material handling tasks.
  • Grade 12 diploma (or equivalent).
  • Availability to work rotating day, afternoon, and night shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating spike trucks.
  • Previous experience in the paper, packaging, or manufacturing industry.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • First Aid certification.

Work Environment

This position is based in a busy manufacturing and production facility with regular forklift traffic, moving machinery, varying temperatures, and continuous material handling activities. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
