Location: Paisley, Bruce County, ON
Schedule: On-Site, Monday–Friday
Employment Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Compensation: $120,000–$150,000 annually + benefits

Our client is a specialized nuclear services company providing engineering, decontamination, manufacturing, commissioning, and material free-release services that support the safe advancement of Canada's nuclear industry.

We are seeking an experienced Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) to lead our Radiation Protection Program and support safe, compliant operations at our Bruce County facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve the site's Radiation Protection (RP) Program.
  • Ensure compliance with CNSC regulations, licence requirements, and ALARA principles.
  • Conduct radiological assessments, contamination control, and work planning.
  • Review Radiological Exposure Permits (REPs) and provide field support for radiological work.
  • Administer personnel dosimetry, dose tracking, investigations, and reporting.
  • Perform dose assessments and recommend exposure reduction strategies.
  • Develop RP procedures, work instructions, and training programs.
  • Deliver radiation safety training and mentorship to employees and contractors.
  • Coordinate radiological monitoring, contamination surveys, and airborne monitoring activities.
  • Support audits, inspections, licensing activities, and regulatory reporting.
  • Lead radiological event response, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Act as the site's primary Radiation Safety Officer and liaison with the CNSC.

QualificationsEducation

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Radiation Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Formal Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) training required.
  • Master's degree is an asset.

Experience

  • 5+ years of radiation protection or health physics experience in nuclear or other licensed radiological environments.
  • Experience with radiological surveys, contamination control, ALARA planning, and dose assessments.
  • Experience supporting CNSC inspections, audits, and regulatory compliance.
  • Decontamination and material free-release experience is an asset.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of radiation protection principles, CNSC regulations, and radiation monitoring equipment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.
  • English required; French is an asset.
