Title: Public Health Engineer
Salary: $102,397 - $114,444- $138,538 per year (pay range explained below)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 8:00 am- 4:00pm Mon- Fri with flexibility (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)
Location: Hybrid – open to all of BC with local office

About the role

As a Public Health Engineer you will support Environmental Public Health Services (EPHS) and the Community Health and Wellness Programs. Supporting the development of healthy community infrastructure, including domestic, municipal, industrial, and agriculture applications of water, sewage and refuse systems, swimming pools and other public buildings. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the role provides engineering expertise to Environmental Public Health staff, First Nations, and other government agencies on the public health requirements of community infrastructure (drinking water, wastewater, solid waste, and community facilities) in order to promote safe and healthy built environments and minimize the occurrence of public health risks.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have/be;

Education & Occupational Certification, Experience (REQUIRED)

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (chemical, civil, environmental, or mechanical)
• Registered and listed as a practicing Professional Engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.

Education & Occupational Certification, Experience (ASSET – NOT REQUIRED TO COMPLETE)

• 5 years’ experience, following registration, in the fields of public health engineering or as a water engineer, wastewater engineer, environmental engineer, hydrogeologist, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• 5 years’ experience of working with First Nation communities within BC or lived experience
• Experience reviewing ISC’s Extended Asset Condition Reporting System (E-ACRS) and ISC’s Annual Performance Inspections (API’s) is an asset.
• Working experience within a public health organization or Indigenous Services Canada is an asset.

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.
Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.

The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
