Overview

One Roof Youth Hub is a comprehensive, community-based initiative in Kingston, Ontario, providing a centralized location where youth can access a wide range of services and supports. The hub is designed to address the holistic needs of youth aged 16-24, offering resources in areas such as mental health, housing, education, employment, and wellness.

The hub is deeply committed to collaboration, working closely with local agencies, healthcare providers, and community partners to provide integrated care and enhance service delivery. One Roof plays a pivotal role in promoting youth well-being, addressing barriers to success, and creating pathways for young people to thrive in their community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Input data related to program activities, client interactions, and outcomes into the system with precision.
  • Maintain confidential records and ensure compliance with privacy policies.
  • Assist with compiling reports and ensuring data accuracy for program evaluation.
  • Design and execute a variety of prosocial activities and programs that encourage youth participation and build life skills.
  • Plan and supervise community outings, ensuring youth are safely supported and engaged in meaningful experiences.
  • Engage with youth in the drop-in space, offering guidance and support as they navigate challenges and build connections.
  • Ensure a welcoming atmosphere where all youth feel safe, supported, and included.
  • Work closely with local service providers and community partners to connect youth with relevant resources and supports.
  • Maintain safety protocols during all activities, and handle any conflicts or crises that arise with care and professionalism.
  • Maintain records of activities and youth participation, ensure data accuracy for program evaluation, and assist with administrative duties such as booking calendars and confirming appointments.
  • Create weekly menus for breakfast and dinner
  • Weekly grocery shopping to ensure we have sufficient food stock for meal preparation
  • Assist in planning and coordinating daily activities within the drop-in space, ensuring seamless operations and high-quality engagement opportunities. Updating appointment calendars as needed
  • Support in drop-in as necessary and act as the back up for the Program and Admin assistant
  • Other duties as required

Skills, Knowledge and Education Required:

· Knowledge of housing, healthcare and community resources in Kingston

· Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain boundaries

· Ability to deescalate clients and provide clear firm messages

· Excellent oral and written communication skills; interpersonal skills with ability to set and maintain boundaries

· Strong program development skills and an understanding of lifeskills and the importance of pro-social engagement

· Crisis management skills

· Exceptional confidentiality awareness skills are a requirement

· Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team

· Comprehensive computer expertise in Microsoft Office and Google Drive to prepare presentations, populate spreadsheets and databases and prepare written reports

· Knowledge of anti-oppression and inclusion, including knowledge of supporting 2SLGBTQ+ youth and creating positive spaces

· Experience working with individuals who use substances, have mental health issues and/or have come into contact with the criminal justice system preferred

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or equivalent in Social Services or related field
  • Administrative experience
  • Experience working with transitional aged youth
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Access to a car and a valid drivers liscence are required

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario services and community networks
