Summary

The Property Maintenance Lead is responsible for the ongoing maintenance, repair, and operational reliability of Hawkeye Holdings Ltd.’s warehouse facilities and the common areas of its industrial leased properties. Hawkeye Holdings Ltd. is a family run business that has operated in Kelowna for over 100 years.

A key focus of this role is the oversight, maintenance, and performance of the mechanical systems supporting refrigerated and cold storage operations.

The successful candidate will take ownership of facility upkeep by self-performing maintenance work where appropriate, coordinating internal staff resources, and managing contractors as needed. This position is also responsible for planning and executing the annual preventative maintenance program, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and within budget and management priorities.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Facility and Property Maintenance

  • Maintain warehouse buildings, leased industrial common areas, and surrounding property infrastructure
  • Perform routine inspections of facilities to identify repair and maintenance needs
  • Complete general building repairs including doors, docks, lighting, plumbing, and structural upkeep
  • Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues affecting operations or tenant safety

Mechanical Systems and Equipment Maintenance

  • Maintain and repair industrial mechanical systems including HVAC, pumps, motors, dock equipment, lighting, plumbing, and compressed air systems
  • Diagnose equipment issues, dismantle, repair, align, assemble, and adjust mechanical components
  • Perform both scheduled and unscheduled repairs to support warehouse operations
  • Cold Storage and Refrigeration Operations (Key Focus)
  • Support the maintenance and operational reliability of cold storage facilities
  • Coordinate service and repair of refrigeration equipment
  • Responsible for the start-up, monitoring, safe operation, and shutdown of refrigerated rooms
  • Monitor temperature performance, alarms, and system controls
  • Work closely with specialized refrigeration contractors when required

Preventative Maintenance and Annual Planning

  • Develop, implement, and manage an annual preventative maintenance program
  • Maintain accurate logs, documentation, and service records
  • Capital Works and Facility Improvement Projects
  • Coordinate execution of capital works projects for major maintenance and facility improvements
  • Assist management in planning and budgeting for long-term capital needs
  • Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in property maintenance, facilities management, or industrial mechanical work
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability
  • Experience operating and monitoring refrigeration equipment is an asset
  • Ability to coordinate contractors and manage maintenance projects
  • Valid driver’s license required

Preferred Certifications and Qualifications

  • **Training is available for the role.
  • Refrigeration Mechanic Certification (Red Seal or equivalent)
  • HVAC Technician Certification
  • Millwright / Industrial Mechanic Certification
  • Forklift or Equipment Operator Certification
  • Occupational First Aid Certification
  • WHMIS and Workplace Safety Training
  • Facility construction project execution and planning experience is an asset
  • Experience working under CSA, TSSA, or other applicable mechanical safety standards

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $32.00-$41.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
