Overview

The Process Engineer is responsible for leading and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing operations. This role focuses on improving cost, quality, and efficiency through process optimization, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement projects with a focus on cost, time, and quality.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities, and support corrective action planning and implementation.
  • Develop, author, edit, and review work instructions for machining, assembly, repair, and overhaul processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process and documentation improvements and ensure alignment with actual plant operations.
  • Perform time studies and analyze production data to address inefficiencies and improve performance.
  • Train employees on new or updated processes, procedures, and documentation.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of new manufacturing processes, tooling, and plant layouts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Product Design, IT, and Operations) to improve systems and workflows.
  • Work with external vendors (machine and tooling suppliers) to implement new technologies and improvements.
  • Implement and support safety and security enhancements while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Experience developing detailed tool drawings utilizing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Knowledge of Mastercam and CNC programing will be an asset.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Accountabilities

  • Obtain and maintain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada.
  • Ensure the security and confidentiality of company information.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering Technology (3-year program) or equivalent experience.
  • One of the following experience requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Process Engineer; or
  • 5+ years of relevant manufacturing or firearms assembly experience.
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma).
  • Experience with SolidWorks is required, PDM is an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project) within an Office 365 environment.
  • MRP/ERP system experience is an asset.
  • Eligibility to obtain a Restricted Possession and Acquisition License (RPAL).

  • Internal: Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Product Design, IT, Operations.
  • External: Machine and tooling vendors, equipment suppliers, and technology partners.
  • Office environment – specify activities keyboarding, sitting, problem solving, analysis.
  • Manufacturing Environment (PPE Required) – 50% of time directly in production environment, 50% of time in office environment
  • Range & Lab (PPE Required) – occasional time in the test range may be required.
  • Travel – some (less than 5%) travel may be required to customers or vendors

Security Clearance and Screening Requirements

Due to the nature of our operations and regulatory environment, all employees are required to meet specific security and compliance standards.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates must:

  • Consent to and complete a criminal record check
  • Be eligible for and successfully complete a Controlled Goods Program (CGP) Security Assessment
  • Be eligible to obtain a Restricted Possession and Acquisition Licence (RPAL) and maintain it after company provided training

In addition, candidates must:

  • Be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada security clearance under the Contract Security Program (CSP), as required for the role

For certain roles with financial or inventory responsibilities, candidates may also be required to:

  • Consent to a credit check
