Position Highlights
This position is part of the Technology, Business Solutions & Services Corporate team and provides dedicated Product
Owner leadership for the Safety, Communications, Energy Planning, and related Corporate service portfolios. The role is
accountable for ensuring that technology investments, products, and services align with business priorities, deliver
measurable value, and support BC Hydro's evolving operational and strategic objectives.
As BC Hydro transitions to a capability-led, product-based operating model, this position plays a critical role in establishing
Product Owner accountability for business capabilities, outcomes, and value realization. The Product Owner is responsible
for product strategy, roadmap development, prioritization, investment planning, vendor management, stakeholder
engagement, and achievement of business outcomes across assigned portfolios.
The successful candidate will provide strategic ownership and leadership for Safety, Communications, Energy Planning,
Corporate Services, and other capabilities assigned through the operating model. This role requires balancing competing
priorities across multiple business portfolios while ensuring alignment with enterprise strategies, technology roadmaps,
regulatory requirements, and business objectives. The Product Owner will serve as the primary bridge between business
stakeholders and technology teams, driving innovation, operational excellence, and continuous value delivery.
What you'll do

- Establish product vision, strategic priorities, and roadmaps across multiple business capabilities.
- Own and prioritize product backlogs while balancing value, risk, operational stability, compliance, and delivery capacity.
- Lead prioritization and investment discussions across multiple business capability portfolios, balancing operational
- Support investment planning and business case development to ensure technology investments are aligned with business
- Define, monitor, and report on product success measures, value realization objectives, and adoption outcomes.
- Work directly with business leaders, Solution Architects, Managed Service Provider partners, and delivery teams to align
- Act as the primary BC Hydro accountability point for assigned product portfolios, holding service providers accountable for
- Lead adoption, sustainment, and continuous improvement activities across assigned business capabilities.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction across multiple technology products, capabilities, and service providers
- Act as the Technology Product Owner accountable for business capability outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in a two-in-a-box model with the Business Product Owner and other stakeholders to translate business outcomes,
- Own and maintain the product backlog, ensuring work is prioritized based on business value, risk, compliance
- Facilitate discovery, fit-to-standard, design, and planning activities to align business needs with enterprise architecture,
- Collaborate with Managed Technology Service Providers, Solution Architects, business stakeholders, and delivery teams
- Monitor product and delivery performance, proactively identifying risks, issues, dependencies, and opportunities for
Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate product priorities, roadmaps, decisions, and delivery outcomes.
- Lead readiness, adoption, communications, training, support transition, and sustainment activities in partnership with
- Analyze stakeholder feedback, operational metrics, incidents, risks, and emerging industry trends to identify opportunities
- Make informed product decisions and trade-offs when business, user, technical, operational, or delivery considerations
- Ensure integrity, consistency, standardization, and sustainable lifecycle management practices across assigned products,
What you bring
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience leading technology products, platforms, portfolios, business capabilities,
- Bachelor Degree /Diploma in Computer Science, Technology, Business Administration or Engineering.
- A track record of success working on large, complex technology initiatives and the resulting technology operations and
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, to proactively engage multiple internal stakeholder groups.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts and plans with a variety of stakeholder audiences.
- Experience working with or familiarity with Technology related to Project management/ Project Delivery and Mobile
- Strong ability to engage with supporting technology teams to solve business problems.
- Flexibility as a self-starter with high results orientation and the ability to quickly make decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within diverse teams and manage multiple concurrent tasks with varying degrees
- Strong understanding of both technologies and business processes and ability to integrate technical and functional views.
- The ability to lead teams and provide direction to achieve successful technology operations and project delivery.
