About the Position

We are seeking a dynamic, organized, and experienced Healthcare Programs Manager to oversee and coordinate the college's healthcare programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the academic quality, day-to-day operations, program development, instructor coordination, student experience, and continuous improvement of healthcare programs offered by the institution.

Working closely with academic leadership, instructors, administrative staff, students, and external healthcare organizations, the Healthcare Programs Manager will ensure that programs are effectively delivered, properly supported, and aligned with applicable educational, regulatory, industry, and institutional requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced healthcare professional or education professional with a strong understanding of healthcare training who is interested in transitioning their industry experience into an academic leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day academic and operational activities of the college's healthcare programs.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of healthcare programs.
  • Work closely with the Academic Director and college leadership to ensure programs meet, applicable regulatory requirements, quality standards, and institutional policies
  • Support the development, review, and updating of curriculum, course outlines, instructional materials, assessments, and learning resources.
  • Coordinate instructor recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, orientation, and ongoing support.
  • Monitor instructor performance and provide guidance regarding instructional delivery, student engagement, assessment, attendance, grading, and academic procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication with instructors, students, administrative staff, and external partners.
  • Monitor student academic progress, attendance, participation, and overall program experience, and assist with the resolution of academic or program-related concerns.
  • Coordinate practicum, clinical, work-integrated learning, or placement activities where applicable to the programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare organizations, employers, industry professionals, and potential practicum or employment partners.
  • Ensure program documentation, records, policies, and procedures are maintained accurately and consistently.
  • Assist with program approvals, regulatory reviews, audits, and compliance requirements applicable to the college and its healthcare programs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve program quality, student outcomes, instructional practices, and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct research and analysis related to healthcare education, industry trends, employment requirements, and program development.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of new healthcare programs and academic initiatives.
  • Participate in meetings with college leadership and provide recommendations regarding program operations, staffing, curriculum, resources, and student needs.
  • Prepare professional reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and other documentation using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Support the development of program policies, procedures, guidelines, and operational processes.
  • Assist with budgeting, resource planning, purchasing, and other administrative activities related to healthcare programs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of healthcare-industry practices and educational trends relevant to the programs offered by the college.
  • Promote a professional, respectful, inclusive, and student-focused learning environment.
  • Perform other academic and administrative duties related to the successful operation of the healthcare programs.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a healthcare-related field, such as Pharmacy, Nursing, Health Sciences, Medical Office Administration, Health Care Assistance, or another relevant discipline.
  • Relevant professional or occupational experience within the healthcare sector.
  • Previous experience in healthcare education, vocational education, post-secondary education, program coordination, program management, or instructional leadership is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supervising, coordinating, or supporting instructors, educators, or healthcare professionals.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare industry practices and the educational needs of students preparing for healthcare-related careers.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional practices, student assessment, and academic program administration.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple programs, priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to conduct research, analyze information, prepare reports, and make recommendations to academic leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate academic and administrative records.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with instructors, administrators, students, and external partners.
  • Knowledge of healthcare terminology and current healthcare industry practices.
  • Experience working with learning management systems (LMS), student information systems, or other educational technology is an asset.
  • Experience working within a private career college or regulated post-secondary institution in British Columbia is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of applicable British Columbia requirements governing private training institutions is considered an asset.
  • Additional language skills, including French, are considered an asset.

Preferred Experience

The ideal candidate will have a combination of healthcare industry experience and academic/program-management experience. Candidates with experience as a healthcare professional who have subsequently worked in education, training, program coordination, or academic administration are encouraged to apply.
