Summary of responsibilities:

The Specialist, Special Projects is responsible for the planning, execution, monitoring, controlling and closing of selected and assigned projects for the deployment of technology. The incumbent also ensures business objectives/scope of these projects are achieved or exceeded to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of the projects design and implementation. The Specialist, Special Projects performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Takes ownership of assigned projects for the deployment of equipment to airports, applies project management practices in line with CATSA’s policy and framework, identify and solve issues.

• Develops business cases, detailed project plans, project charters, project schedules and proposals to accomplish business/project goals. Identify uncertainties and risks and develop a contingency plan to mitigate such risks.

• Develops and implements proactive deployment and service management strategies, guidelines and plans for technology assets across assigned projects, improving operational efficiency, reducing downtime, and enhancing the user experience.

What you need to succeed

To qualify for the position, you must have:

• Graduation from a recognized college or university with a specialization in engineering, business administration, business management, project management or another speciality relevant to the duties of the position.

• A minimum of eight (8) years of experience managing projects of difference size, complexity and scope.

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience developing and executing technology deployment plans.

• Experience liaising with a variety of stakeholder or client communities to promote business strategies and deliver projects.

• Excellent knowledge of project management tools and methodologies.

• Experience in financial contracts (budgets).

• Knowledge of analytical tools, threat and risk assessment, problem-solving and decision-making methodologies.

• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications including advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project skills.

• Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).

• Experience leading technology-based project design, development and implementation.

• Knowledge of CATSA's mandate and priorities, as well as an awareness of relevant legislation impacting CATSA.

Specific work requirements:

• Language Profile: Bilingual (English and French), BBBB/BBBB;

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Reliability security clearance.
