Independent Content Creator & Photographer

Compensation: $2,000–$3,000 CAD per month, plus commission based on revenue generated

About Vancouver Creative Studio

Vancouver Creative Studio is a creative space located in Kitsilano, Vancouver. We offer professional photography sessions, videography, content creation, product photography, private studio rentals, brand activations, and other creative experiences.

We are looking for one independent, creative, and outgoing person to serve as our Content Creator, Photographer, and Lead Brand Ambassador.

This is one combined role involving client photography, videography, content creation, brand representation, customer service, sales, lead generation, and general studio support.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will independently host client photography, videography, and content-creation sessions while becoming one of the main public faces of Vancouver Creative Studio.

When client sessions are not scheduled, working time will be used to create content for the studio, promote its services, generate leads, build community partnerships, maintain creative equipment, and support general studio operations.

The ideal candidate is creative, professional, confident with clients, comfortable representing a growing brand, and able to work independently without constant supervision.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Host professional photography, videography, and content-creation sessions from pre-session planning through final delivery.
  • Complete client consultation calls, understand creative requirements, and prepare session plans covering style, backdrops, outfits, props, poses, products, and intended use.
  • Set up and operate cameras, lighting, backdrops, props, microphones, and other studio equipment while maintaining professional standards for focus, exposure, composition, framing, and sound.
  • Welcome clients, provide posing and creative direction, manage sessions within the confirmed time, and deliver a professional and comfortable client experience.
  • Complete basic photo and video editing, organize client files, and deliver content according to Vancouver Creative Studio procedures.
  • Create regular studio content during non-booked time, including Reels, TikToks, promotional videos, photographs, website content, advertisements, email assets, and behind-the-scenes material.
  • Act as the Lead Brand Ambassador by representing Vancouver Creative Studio online, in person, at events, and in promotional content.
  • Generate leads, confirmed bookings, repeat clients, upgrades, referrals, partnerships, and additional revenue through content, outreach, networking, and relationship-building.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local creators, photographers, influencers, models, businesses, and community groups while promoting the studio throughout Kitsilano and surrounding Vancouver neighbourhoods.
  • Keep the studio and equipment clean, organized, safe, and client-ready; support scheduling, last-minute bookings, off-site projects, events, client requests, content planning, lead tracking, and general studio operations while following approved pricing and payment procedures.

Compensation

The position offers:

  • Starting salary of $2,000–$3,000 CAD per month
  • Additional commission based on revenue personally generated

  • Partnerships and qualified leads that convert into revenue

Detailed commission terms will be included in the employment or contractor agreement.

Travel

Approved travel expenses will be covered when travel is required outside the Lower Mainland.

All travel must be approved in advance.

Schedule and Availability

The role requires flexibility based on studio bookings, projects, and business needs.

The successful candidate should be available for:

  • Events and collaborations

Preference will be given to someone who lives in Kitsilano or a nearby Vancouver neighbourhood and can reach the studio on short notice.

When no client session is scheduled, the employee will be expected to create content, support marketing, generate leads, maintain equipment, organize creative assets, and assist with general studio operations.

Candidate Requirements

  • Professional photography, videography, or content-creation experience
  • Strong understanding of cameras, lighting, composition, posing, and studio setup
  • Ability to create high-quality photos and short-form video content
  • Basic photo and video editing skills
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills
  • Confidence working directly with clients
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision

  • Professional, reliable, and self-motivated attitude
  • Comfortable representing the business publicly
  • Comfortable appearing in promotional content when required
  • Comfortable recommending relevant services and generating sales
  • Ability to accept feedback and follow studio procedures
  • Portfolio demonstrating relevant creative work

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who:

  • Live in Kitsilano or nearby
  • Have at least two years of relevant experience
  • Can be available for last-minute sessions or projects
  • Have portrait and headshot photography experience
  • Have product photography experience
  • Have personal-branding or commercial photography experience
  • Have experience creating Instagram Reels and TikTok content
  • Have video-editing experience
  • Have graphic-design or copywriting skills
  • Have social media management experience
  • Have sales, lead-generation, or customer-service experience
  • Have an existing network of local clients, creators, or businesses
  • Have experience working in a photography studio
  • Have experience using Canon cameras
  • Own professional photography or video equipment

Pay: $2,000.00-$3,000.00 per month
