Veterinary Assistant Posting

Central Park Animal Hospital is a clinic located on Kingsway in Burnaby and provides medical care to dogs and cats. We are looking for an avid animal lover to join our team as a veterinary assistant. While any experience with animals is a great asset to have, we are open to hiring anyone who is interested in this field of work. We are currently looking for a part to full-time worker to expand our team and allow the clinic to grow. Any candidate that is only able to work a couple of days each week in the next few months will be rejected.

Requirements

Kind and compassionate attitude towards animals and people

Detail oriented individual

Able to not only work alone at times, but also communicate as a team and work together

Stellar customer service skills and experience with conflict resolution

Experience with animals as a pet owner or in professional settings

Punctual, dedicated, and prepared to work hard

Able to maintain composure in emergency situations

Not afraid of blood or situations where animals may be in pain

Must be comfortable in being around and restraining animals

Duties

Assisting the veterinarian in appointments including asking for patient history and restraining animals

Providing customer service support at the front desk: answering phones and emails, booking appointments and administrative tasks

Daily cleaning of the clinic and kennel spaces for pets

Monitoring patients during and post-surgery

Providing care to boarding and hospitalized pets

Availability

Individuals that have a large open availability and prior experience in this field are an asset. Preferred shifts will be Weekday afternoon/evening with the occasional weekends. As such, being available to work these times will be a priority in our hiring decision. This is subject to change over time.

Wage

We begin at minimum wage and offer a raise based on merit after one year of employment. Wage may be negotiated depending on prior experience.
