Full job description

Handyman / General Carpentry & Rental Unit Maintenance position.

We are looking for a reliable, skilled, and practical Handyman / General Carpenter to help maintain and improve our rental properties along with customer work. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can handle a variety of general repairs, carpentry, maintenance, grass cutting, snow removal, and turnover work in rental units.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs in rental units and common areas
  • Complete basic to intermediate carpentry work, including:
  • Framing and minor structural repairs
  • Installing and repairing doors, trim, baseboards, shelving, and cabinets
  • Repairing drywall and completing minor finishing work
  • Building or repairing decks, stairs, railings, and other woodwork
  • Prepare rental units between tenants, including repairs, touch-ups, and general maintenance
  • Paint walls, trim, doors, and other surfaces as required
  • Repair or replace flooring, fixtures, hardware, and other household items
  • Perform minor plumbing and electrical maintenance where appropriately qualified
  • Troubleshoot maintenance issues and determine the best repair solution
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas
  • Identify larger problems that require a licensed tradesperson and report them promptly
  • Help keep properties safe, clean, functional, and well maintained
  • Complete work orders and communicate the status of jobs
  • Occasionally respond to urgent maintenance issues
  • Showing units to prospective tenants
  • Occasional paid trips to New Brunswick as needed

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in handyman work, carpentry, construction, property maintenance, or a related trade
  • Good general knowledge of residential construction and repairs
  • Carpentry experience is an asset
  • Ability to use common hand and power tools safely
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple maintenance tasks
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Reliable, punctual, and respectful when working in occupied rental properties
  • Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift materials and perform physical work as required
  • Appropriate licences/certifications for any regulated work performed

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour

Work Location: On the road
