Residential Support Worker

SMJ Youth Services Inc.Locations: Kingston, Napanee, and surrounding areas

What You'll Do

As a Residential Support Worker, you will:

  • Provide direct care, supervision, and support to youth in residential and community settings
  • Build positive, therapeutic relationships with youth and serve as a positive role model
  • Support youth in developing life skills, emotional regulation, independence, and personal goals
  • Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation, routines, and recreational activities
  • Facilitate community outings and encourage social engagement and inclusion
  • Implement individualized care plans and behaviour support strategies in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
  • Complete documentation and reports accurately and professionally
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment for youth in care
  • Respond to challenging behaviours using trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches

Qualifications

  • College diploma or degree in a related field, including:
  • Child and Youth Care
  • Social Work
  • Community Justice Services
  • Psychology
  • Social Service Worker
  • Behavioural Sciences
  • Or a related human services field
  • Valid G or G2 Driver's License
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Experience supporting youth with complex special needs and/or youth involved in criminal rehabilitation is considered an asset
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Welfare Record Check
