Position Summary

The Outreach Assistant will support CFSPD’s outreach and community engagement initiatives during the summer term under the Canada Summer Jobs Program. This role is ideal for a motivated, community-minded individual interested in gaining hands-on experience in non-profit operations, outreach, and communications. The successful candidate will contribute to promoting CFSPD programs, supporting community events, and assisting with administrative and communications activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in promoting CFSPD’s programs and services to the community.
• Represent CFSPD at local events, workshops, and outreach activities.
• Contribute to the development of marketing materials and support social media efforts.
• Deliver excellent customer service to clients, partners, and community members.
• Support daily administrative functions and office operations.
• Assist with photo and video shoots for communications and promotions.

Other

• Assist with maintaining an orderly and welcoming office environment.
• ·Participate in agency fundraising activities as deemed appropriate and necessary by Senior Management.
• Attend required agency activities and meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Interest in community outreach, non-profit work, or public relations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with social media platforms.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Experience with or interest in photography/videography is a plus.

Working Conditions

• Responding to inquiries via in-person, telephone, and email communication.
• Handling confidential and sensitive information.
• Managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Primarily office-based work environment with occasional community-based activities.

Eligibility (Canada Summer Jobs Program Requirements)

Applicants must:

• Be between 15–30 years of age at the start of employment.
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada.
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).

A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check may be required.

This position is based in Brampton and offers 35 hours per week at a rate of $18.50 per hour, in accordance with the Employment Standards Act, 2000 and other applicable Ontario legislation.
