Position Summary

Are you interested in an opportunity to grow professionally within a positive and progressive culture? Northern Health is seeking an Assistant, Research to join our Legal Affairs, Enterprise Risk & Compliance department.

The Assistant, Research provides operational, and administrative support for the conduct of research activities conducted by the Ethics Service in compliance with applicable regulations, Northern Health’s research policies and procedures and study-specific contractual/grant agreements and protocols. The Assistant, Research role involves working in a close team environment with NH staff, as well as members of the Ethics Service research team.

The salary range for this position is $49,445 (min) to $61,806 (midpoint) to $64,897 (max) per annum, based on 1.0 FTE. Northern Health typically establishes salaries within the minimum and midpoint of the salary range based on qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

Qualifications
  • Diploma in Business or Office Administration plus three (3) experience in a health or health-research related field including a minimum of one (1) year of research experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Experience working with people in a health care, academic, and/or research environment with knowledge of medical, clinical and research terminology.
  • Experience with electronic data capture and survey tools (e.g., REDCap, Qualtrics or equivalent) is an asset.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of human participant’s protection, including a functional understanding of the requirements of the Tri-Council Policy Statement 2: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans.
  • Knowledge of privacy and confidentiality principles for handling participant information and research documents.
  • Highly proficient with MS Office (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint), email, internet
  • Strong organizational skills & demonstrated ability to problem-solve under pressure.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex research protocol requirements.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow data quality practices (e.g., accurate documentation, query follow-up and version control).
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet tight timelines.
  • Maintenance of professional and appropriate interactions with sponsors and all other study related personnel, participants, families and clinical staff members.
  • Attendance at required internal meetings.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods, including data collection, analysis and interpretation.
  • Experience in data management, analysis and reporting is an asset.
