Build Relationships and Help Deliver Team-Based Personalized Care

At Harrison Healthcare, Medical Laboratory Assistants are known as Diagnostic & Screening Coordinators. Reporting to the Senior Director of Clinical Operations, you are at the heart of our on-site diagnostic and laboratory experience. You will deliver a broad range of diagnostic testing and specimen collection services while creating a familiar, efficient, and compassionate experience for our clients. Working closely with physicians, nurses, and the broader multidisciplinary team, you'll help ensure every diagnostic result is accurate, timely, and supports exceptional preventive care.

Responsibilities:

  • Specimen Collection: Collect client specimens including blood, urine, and other biological samples using appropriate methods and equipment. Prepare, process, and package specimens for laboratory analysis, including centrifugation, in accordance with laboratory standards and protocols.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Perform a broad range of tests and diagnostics including phlebotomy, 12-lead ECGs, urinalysis, spirometry, audiometry, Holter monitoring, 24-hour ABPM (ambulatory blood pressure monitoring), intraocular pressure (IOP), visual field testing, visual acuity, tonometry, and genetic testing.
  • Equipment & Supply Management: Clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure optimal functionality. Monitor, order, and maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and inventory to support efficient clinic operations.
  • Documentation & Records: Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough records of all tests, results, and client interactions. Communicate with clinical professionals including physicians, nurses, and lab personnel to ensure results meet client needs.
  • Client Experience: Create a welcoming, reassuring, and compassionate experience for clients, particularly those requiring regular lab work. Uphold a high standard of care that reflects Harrison's values of compassion, innovation, and excellence.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Take a multidisciplinary approach to comprehensive client care, working with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Registered Dietitians, Exercise Physiologists, Mental Health Care Navigators, and more to optimize wellness.

Experience you Bring & Qualifications:

  • Medical Laboratory Assistant credential from an accredited institution.
  • One or more years of experience in a client-facing laboratory or healthcare environment.
  • Experience completing blood draws, performing ECGs, and following lab protocols and requisitions.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records (Accuro EMR experience is considered an asset).
  • Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize workflow, multi-task, and thrive in a dynamic clinic environment.
  • Strong commitment to providing client-centred, compassionate care.
