Full job description

We are currently recruiting for a Personal Support Worker to assist a male employer with Muscular Dystrophy. The employer is a lawyer by profession who is looking for a worker to assist him with aspects of his personal care.

Location:

  • Vancouver (Near General Gordon Elementary School)

Shifts & Hours of Work:

  • Sunday & Tuesday: 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM - $35/hr
  • Friday Overnight Attendant: 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM - $35/hr

Candidate must be available to also work the following coverage shifts:

  • December 2026 & January 2027
  • Thursday & Saturday 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM - $35/hr
  • Sunday: 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM - $40/hr

Compensation:

  • $35 - $40 per hour

Responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to):

Morning Care Needs:

  • Washroom care, toileting and dressing assistance
  • Breakfast preparation & eating assistance (meal replacement drink)
  • Laundry, making bed, medication assistance and oral hygiene
  • Transfers to and from bathroom to bed and to wheelchair (cradle carry)

Evening Care Needs:

  • Washroom care, toileting, dressing assistance, transferring to bed
  • Transfers (cradle carry) from wheelchair to toilet or bed

Overnight Care Needs:

  • Approximately 3 interventions per night
  • Repositioning, urinal support and drinking assistance
  • Suctioning mouth after drinking (not deep suctioning)

Required Qualifications:

  • Fully Vaccinated
  • No experience necessary, training provided. Ideal for students
  • Physically fit to do cradle carry of someone up to 100lbs
  • Must be at least 5'10" tall (Bath height is raised so anyone shorter would struggle to safely cradle carry to the bath)
  • Willingness to learn
  • Able to take direction - client can direct all care
