Exciting Opportunity – Join a New Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Practice

We are looking for both Full-time and Part-time Registered Nurses

We are a newly established Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice in Ottawa, ON, set to welcome patients soon. As part of our growing team, we are seeking a Registered Nurse (Sedation Support) to support our surgeons and patients in a surgical-focused environment. As we prepare to welcome our first patients, we are looking for energetic, team-oriented individuals to help us create a culture of patient-care excellence.

Our practice is led by two Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons who each hold additional specialty training in Prosthodontics. This unique combination allows us to provide patients with a truly comprehensive level of patient care. Joining our team means being part of a modern, patient-focused environment from day one. We pride ourselves on collaboration and support, working together to deliver the highest standard of surgical and prosthetic care.

Role Overview

The Registered Nurse (Sedation Support) will be a vital member of our surgical team, working directly with our Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and clinical staff to facilitate sedation-assisted procedures. The role involves preparing patients for surgery, carefully monitoring their well-being throughout their treatment, and maintaining the highest standards of safety, comfort, and compassionate care at every stage of their visit.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare patients for sedation and surgical procedures

· Assist surgeons and anaesthesia providers during sedation cases

· Monitor and record patients’ vital signs before, during, and after sedation

· Establish and manage IV access as required

· Provide post-operative care, discharge instructions, and reassurance to patients

· Maintain accurate, digital patient records and documentation

· Comply with all health and safety regulations, infection control standards, and ensure the safe disposal of sharps and waste

· Attend training sessions as needed to maintain and enhance clinical knowledge and skills

· Keep certifications and training for medical emergencies current

· Adhere to the practice’s rules, policies, and professional code of conduct

Skills & Qualifications

· Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario

· CPR/BLS certification (required)

· ACLS certification (required)

· PALS (recommended but not required)

· Experience with IV sedation, anaesthesia, perioperative nursing, critical care, or emergency medicine is preferred but not mandatory

· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for patients, families, and colleagues

· Strong writing ability for preparing clear and accurate reports

· Solid knowledge of nursing principles and patient care

· Organized, disciplined, and efficient in both patient care and workflow management

· Comfortable using computers and working in a fully digital office

Experience

· Oral Surgery experience is beneficial
