We currently have an opening for a Production Supervisor for our Sealing operations, located in Stratford, Ontario. This position offers a competitive salary of $72,000-$85,000 dependent on experience plus an excellent benefit and pension package.

Job Description

Production Supervisors supervise, schedule and co-ordinate the activities of production workers who operate processing machines and fabricate, finish or inspect plastic or rubber parts and products.

Duties / Responsiblities

  • Maintain safety of all personnel and promote this as number one priority.
  • Train staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policies. Ensure adherence to these policies and administer discipline if necessary.
  • Maintain hourly timekeeping program (Kronos), GDOX scrap reporting, daily supervisor reports/shift reports.
  • Attend weekly production planning meetings.
  • Maintain proper manning levels, monitor records of employee attendance, overtime, down-time, using manual or computerized systems.
  • Prepare and maintain various reports on the progress of work, material use, rates of production and other production information.
  • Minimize scrap material loss within the department by monitoring scrap levels and ensuring that scrap reporting procedures are properly followed.
  • Develop good employee and union relationships.
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition and coordinate action to repair or replace defective equipment when necessary due to production or safety issues.
  • Maintain effective communication with all personnel and departments.
  • Hold monthly safety meetings.
  • Coordinate start-up, aid and instruct operators on proper changeover techniques.
  • Ensure that parts are inspected for quality during the process and measures are in place to handle quality concerns.
  • Notify operators, engineering, and quality department of any quality issues and review examples of rejected material with the necessary parties.
  • Other duties as required.

Employment Requirements:

  • A post-secondary education or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a unionized manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work all three shifts
