Position Overview

An Accounts Payable role designated to support North Atlantic’s Refinery in France, called North Atlantic Energies. This role is responsible for troubleshooting high-value third-party and hydrocarbon purchase invoices and processing them for payment.

This is a contract position, located in our St. John’s, NL office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review, validate, and reconcile financial information related to refinery transactions for the three French affiliates (NA Energies, NA Raffinage, and NA Chemicals), including prices, volumes, and contractual terms.
  • Process supplier invoices and credit notes to ensure timely and accurate payment.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of incoming invoices from counterparties, ensuring compliance with legal, tax, and contractual requirements.
  • Post and maintain financial entries in SAP, including invoice processing, settlement preparation, and account adjustments.
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies by liaising with counterparties’ teams and internal departments, including Maintenance, SSHE, Engineering, Process, IT, HR, Medical, Laboratory, Central Warehouse, Sales Operations, Trading, Scheduling, Volumetric Accounting, Payables, and Tax.
  • Monitor and maintain short term liability accounts, ensuring aged items are reviewed, followed up, and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Perform various account reconciliations which may include: travel expense reimbursements in accordance with company policies, GL account reconciliations, corporate credit card reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor`s degree in the field of Economics/Mathematics/Finance/Accounting/Marketing or similar
  • Strong proficiency in English language, both verbal and written
  • Strong sense of ownership
  • Interest in understanding basics of international trading activities, generating business value
  • Analytical accuracy and precision
  • Strong communication skills
  • Controlls awareness
  • Proactive approach to resolve issues, engaging others
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Experience with the following not required, but welcome:

  • Working in a multinational corporate environment
  • Accounting knowledge
  • Bilingual (English and French)
  • Strong IT skills: SAP, Analytics, Automation, Data Visualization, Excel
