Job Overview:
The Customer Compliance/Domestic Logistics Specialist is a crucial operations execution role within High Liner Foods, dedicated exclusively to North American transportation. The Specialist is responsible for tactical management and decision-making within High Liner Foods’ supply chain to ensure efficient and cost-effective transportation execution.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
- Plan, build, and optimize customer loads, including multi-stop shipments, truck utilization, and appointment scheduling to meet service requirements efficiently.
- Select, tender, and coordinate loads with carriers in accordance with routing guide compliance, while maintaining strong working relationships with carriers and brokers.
- Manage transportation execution by tracking loads against key milestones, obtaining carrier status updates and required documentation, and communicating timely updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements by interpreting and communicating vendor and routing instructions to carriers to prevent fines, fees, and service failures.
- Support cost-effective operations by adhering to freight budgets, evaluating decisions that impact freight spend, and reviewing freight payment discrepancies and accessorial charges to determine appropriate next steps.
- Identify risks to successful load execution, recommend practical solutions, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement in transportation performance.
- Utilize, maintain, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), provide on-call or holiday coverage as required, and perform additional logistics-related tasks and activities as assigned.
- Assume full accountability for on-time fines and associated deductions issued by customers and manage the carrier recovery processes for valid claims
- Validate all on-time fine claims to ensure accuracy and legitimacy prior to processing
- Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly retail and food service on-time scorecards to relevant stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field or 2+ years of relevant experience
- Professional carrier-facing experience is highly preferred
- Transportation management experience (TL, LTL, and/or IM)
- Experience with supply chain software (BluJay/E2 Open TMS and JD are considered assets)
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others without hierarchical power
- Proven problem-solving abilities and competency in presenting recommendations
- Team-oriented, values collective effort in solving issues
- Excellent communication skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders
- Customer-focused, puts our customers at the forefront of decisions
Salary Transparency: High Liner Foods’ compensation offerings are founded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $75,000 - $85,000; the base pay is offered based on a variety of factors including geographical market location, and may vary depending on job grading practices, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity factors. As part of our total rewards offering, employees may be eligible to participate in an annual short-term incentive program [and long-term incentive program] (for Dir+) subject to program eligibility requirements.
