Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Line Haul Driver to join our logistics team. This role involves operating commercial vehicles to transport freight over long distances efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, familiarity with heavy equipment, and a commitment to safety and timely deliveries. This position offers an opportunity to work with a professional team dedicated to excellence in freight transportation.

Position Summary

The Line Haul Driver is responsible for safely operating a 5-ton truck to transport freight across Alberta’s highways in all weather conditions. This role involves long-distance driving, freight handling, and supporting warehouse operations, including sorting, loading, and unloading shipments at the hub.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a 5-ton truck on designated line haul routes across Alberta highways
  • Drive safely in varying weather conditions, including snow, ice, rain, and low visibility
  • Follow all provincial transportation regulations and company safety standards
  • Maintain schedules and ensure timely pickups and deliveries
  • Load and unload freight safely and efficiently
  • Secure loads properly to prevent damage during transit
  • Handle freight of varying sizes and weights using proper lifting techniques or equipment
  • Sorting freight at the sort hub according to routes and delivery requirements
  • Assist in organizing freight for outgoing line haul and local deliveries
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Identify and report mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly
  • Ensure vehicle cleanliness and basic upkeep
  • Complete required logs, inspection reports, and delivery documentation accurately
  • Follow Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and company policies

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license (appropriate class for operating a 5-ton truck in Alberta)
  • Clean driving record with a strong commitment to safety
  • Ability to drive long distances and work flexible hours, including nights and early mornings
  • Physically capable of lifting, loading, and unloading freight
  • Experience with line haul or highway driving preferred
  • Familiar with Alberta highway routes and winter driving conditions is an asset
  • Driving in all weather conditions, including harsh winter environments
  • Physically demanding role involving lifting, bending, and prolonged periods of sitting
  • Forklift training is an asset but we will train

This role requires a dedicated professional committed to safe driving practices, punctuality, and excellent customer service. Candidates should be prepared for the physical demands of the job and demonstrate a strong work ethic aligned with industry standards.

Pay: $24.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Calgary, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
