Job Description

Hines Health Services (HHS) is recruiting qualified RN’s to fill vacant short term contract roles within Nova Scotia Health Authority.

The RN is responsible for the overall coordination and direction of nursing care. The RN provides clinical leadership particularly in complex or unpredictable patient/client care settings. The RN has the knowledge, skill and judgment needed to provide competent, evidence-based nursing practice. As a member of a collaborative care team, the RN works with other disciplines to coordinate care to achieve patient/family outcomes. The RN contributes to the efficient and effective functioning of the service/unit and coordination of patient care. The RN complies with documentation processes at NSHA sites.

Hourly rate:
$70-95/hour, commensurate with experience

Benefits: Flights, accommodations, per diem based on contract

Additional compensation: Paid travel mileage

Location: Various locations in Nova Scotia separated by 4 zones

  • Central: Halifax Area, Eastern Shore, West Hants
  • Eastern: Cape Breton, Guysborough, Antigonish
  • Northern: Colchester-East Hans, Cumberland, Pictou
  • Western: Annapolis Valley, South Shore, South West

Required Qualifications:

· Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

· Registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing

· Minimum 1 year nursing experience within Canada

· Basic Life Support- Level C (Health Care Provider (“HCP”)) Certification

· RN entry level competencies (e.g., care and maintenance of nasogastric tubes, intravenous (“IV”) initiation)

· RN post-entry level competencies (e.g. Venipuncture, Care of Central Venous Access Device (“CVAD”), Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (“PICC”) line, direct administration of intravenous medications)

· RNs deployed to Mental Health programs must have training in non-violent crisis intervention, Pinel restraint training and emergency restraint chair training

· Current and clean Driver’s Abstract

· Willingness to work shift work, including days, nights and evenings

· Clear and valid CRC with VSS dated within the last 90 days

HHS is not seeking to recruit nurses employed by NSHA; but, looking to fill contract roles to meet the short-term needs of the health care system.
