Do you have the expertise to educate, the confidence to speak publicly, and the leadership to inspire an industry?
The Calgary Residential Rental Association (CRRA) is Alberta's leading not for profit organization representing residential landlords. Through education, advocacy, networking, and professional resources, we help our members navigate the evolving residential rental landscape while promoting excellence across the industry.
Our mission is to provide a strong voice for Alberta's residential rental industry by delivering professional services, advocacy, and learning opportunities that empower our members.
Our vision is to promote and strengthen the residential rental industry through quality leadership, education, and collaboration.
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and relationship-focused Executive Director to lead our organization into its next phase of growth. Reporting directly to a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of industry professionals, the Executive Director is responsible for providing visionary leadership, ensuring operational excellence, and advancing the Association's strategic priorities.
This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative leader who thrives in a member driven, not for profit environment and is passionate about building partnerships, influencing public policy, and delivering meaningful value to members.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the execution of CRRA's strategic plan while advancing the organization's mission, vision, and values.
· Provide leadership and support to the Board of Directors, including governance, policy development, and strategic advice.
· Identify emerging trends, opportunities, and risks affecting the residential rental industry.
· Ensure organizational compliance with applicable legislation, bylaws, and regulatory requirements.
· Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
· Manage financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and organizational resources.
· Lead human resources functions, including recruitment, performance management, and staff development.
· Oversee information technology systems and identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with office staff, association members, industry partners, government officials, media, and other stakeholders.
· Represent CRRA as its primary spokesperson at meetings, conferences, and public events.
· Advocate on behalf of members with municipal, provincial, and federal governments.
· Identify opportunities to grow membership and strengthen member value.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will bring a combination of executive leadership experience and a strong understanding of Alberta's residential rental industry.
Required qualifications include:
· A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive management experience.
· At least five (5) years of senior leadership experience, preferably within a not-for-profit, association, or member-based organization.
· Demonstrated understanding of Board governance and working effectively with volunteer Boards.
· Strong strategic planning, organizational, and financial management skills.
· Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities.
· Outstanding written, verbal, presentation, and public speaking skills.
· Experience in media relations, government relations, or public affairs.
· Strong critical thinking and sound decision-making abilities.
· Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead organizational change.
· Experience with social media and digital communications.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and implement new technology platforms.
· A university degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
Preferred Experience
The ideal candidate will also have:
· A confident and credible spokesperson who can effectively represent the Association with members, government, media, and industry stakeholders.
· Established relationships within Alberta's residential rental, housing, or real estate sectors.
· Working knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act, rental housing regulations, and issues affecting residential landlords.
· Experience advocating on behalf of an industry, profession, or membership organization.
· Familiarity with government relations, policy development, and legislative advocacy.
Why Join CRRA?
At CRRA, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on an industry that provides homes for thousands of Albertans.
· A collaborative and supportive workplace culture.
· Opportunities for professional growth and leadership development.
· Meaningful work that influences industry policy and best practices.
· The opportunity to work closely with industry leaders, government, and community stakeholders.
