Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Fruit Picker to join our agricultural team. This role involves harvesting fresh fruit crops in a safe and efficient manner, contributing to the successful production of high-quality produce. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, attentive to detail, and capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions. Prior experience in farming or horticulture is a plus but not required, as training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in agriculture and develop valuable skills related to farm operations.

Duties

  • Carefully select and harvest ripe fruit from designated fields or orchards, ensuring minimal damage to crops
  • Use hand tools such as pruning shears or harvest knives to collect fruit efficiently
  • Operate farm machinery and heavy equipment when necessary for tasks like transportation or processing
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas to promote safety and efficiency
  • Assist with irrigation systems and basic maintenance of farm equipment as needed
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines during all harvesting activities
  • Report any issues with equipment or crop health to supervisors promptly
  • Support other farm activities such as planting, pruning, or general maintenance as required

Skills

  • Physical stamina and ability to perform heavy lifting regularly throughout the shift
  • Knowledge of horticulture practices and understanding of crop maturity indicators
  • Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery, power tools, and irrigation systems
  • Experience with hand tools, basic math skills for measuring and counting harvested produce
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment safely when necessary
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure quality standards are met during harvests
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and stand for extended periods
  • Basic understanding of maintenance procedures for farm equipment is a plus
