Full job description

Position Summary

We are looking for people who are interested to start a career in construction materials testing. Our field technician trainees will learn how to test concrete or soils from our experienced technicians. Once trained and certified, they will be on the road in their assigned territories daily. They not only provide testing services for our clients, but they also help us to foster long term relationships with them.

This position is with our Burnaby office and, the person will travel to job sites in Burnaby, Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Richmond, New Westminster, Port Moody, Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam

If you have a background in construction and looking for a change, we will train you.

What our Field-Testing Technicians do:

  • Travelling to multiple jobsites during their shifts
  • Preform field testing to verify materials are compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Reports test results to site personnel to support timely decision-making
  • Maintain accurate records, calculations, and prepare daily quality reports
  • Build relationship with the site personnel

What you need to have:

  • Legally to work in Canada without sponsorship
  • Good command of the English language
  • Canadian Driver’s License and access to a vehicle for travelling to job sites with testing equipment and supplies
  • Physically fit – able to lift 23kg/50lbs
  • Available for day/evening/over night shifts between Monday to Saturday,
  • Customer service experience or attitude

What you will get

  • Depending on your experience, starting wage will be between $21-23/hr

Metro Testing + Engineering is one of the largest providers of construction materials testing services in Western Canada with 10 offices in BC and 1 in Edmonton. We have been servicing the construction industry since 1987.

In addition to materials testing services, we also provide engineering consulting services in Building Science, Environmental, Geotechnical and Materials.
