Position Summary
The Clinical Coordinator of the Centre uses advanced knowledge, experience, and professional expertise within their professional discipline to provide clinical leadership and promote a culture of respect, continuous learning, and professional development within the centre. The incumbent administers, supervises, and coordinates related integrated health services delivered by the IYS-NB Wellness Centre (Integrated Youth Services New Brunswick), ensuring seamless delivery of core services.
This leader promotes recovery oriented, youth centred care and family inclusion to advance and strengthen excellence in clinical practice that is youth focused and responsive to diversity. The Clinical Coordinator inspires and embodies excellence.
The successful candidate provides clinical leadership in the development, delivery, and evaluation of services, outcomes, and care planning to support effective use of resources from a systems and integration perspective. They act as a clinical resource for staff, students, and interprofessional team members, facilitate effective problem solving, and encourage collaboration.
The Clinical Coordinator establishes priorities and coordinates the growth of core and ancillary services, including clinical service assignments and scheduling. They identify staff learning needs and interests, deliver orientation and training programs, provide coaching and mentorship, ensure clinical supervision support, reporting, and risk management, and provide formal feedback.
In this role, the Clinical Coordinator interprets, implements, and oversees policies, procedures, and standards related to client care across all settings. The incumbent collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, other IYS-NB centre sites, and healthcare and community service providers to ensure timely and uninterrupted service delivery.
They identify, coordinate, and promote evaluation, research, and quality improvement initiatives and participate in local teams or committees as well as internal and external conferences. The Clinical Coordinator is also an integral member of a provincial network through a clinical community of practice composed of clinical leaders across IYS-NB.
The balance between areas of responsibility will vary depending on the stage of implementation and the needs of youth, practitioners, care settings, and communities served by the regional centre.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Provide clinical guidance and expertise, mentorship, coaching, and consultation to interdisciplinary service providers, students, interns, and partners involved in clinical care for youth and families.
Collaborate in resolving clinical issues and provide or recommend interventions, programs, resources, and documentation to promote continuity of care and effective treatment and resource utilization.
Support team members in peer support services, youth navigation, care coordination, counselling, and other support services.
In collaboration with the Centre Operations Manager, oversee daily workflow for walk in and intake services, clinical and non clinical pathways, and other allied services within the network, including supervision of case assignment when applicable.
Provide clinical support and supervision for walk in counselling services where applicable, with an emphasis on evidence based and culturally responsive practice, discussion of client care issues, and development of partnerships with other facilities, organizations, and support groups. Provide direct clinical services to individual youth and/or their families through both short-term and ongoing services. Ensure services are available at times accessible to youth including late afternoon or evening appointments.
Collaborate with physicians or nurse practitioners, the interprofessional team, and other service professionals to develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive care plans and interventions for youth and families using systematic assessment, better practices, and evidence-based standards, engaging youth and families as appropriate within their community context.
Promote the importance of integrated client centred services, act as a resource on mental health and addiction issues, and foster collaboration between staff and families to address client concerns such as access to primary care, education, employment, housing, and income support.
Participate in committees, working groups, communities of practice, continuing education, and community initiatives, including representing mental health and addiction perspectives, contributing clinical expertise, sharing up to date information on programs, services, and referral processes, advocating for clinical team goals and objectives, facilitating the development of clear and effective service and referral pathways, and promoting optimal support for clients and their informal support networks to improve access, integration, and coordination of services.
In collaboration with the Centre Operations Manager, participate in program planning, development, evaluation, and quality improvement. This includes supporting team goal setting, problem solving, conflict resolution, and collaboration through activities such as resource assessment, data collection, implementation of client outcome measures, monitoring variances from expected outcomes, and analysis of outcome data. Review feedback, standards, procedures, and protocols to identify opportunities for quality improvement and provide recommendations to enhance service delivery and reduce gaps and barriers.
In collaboration with the Centre Operations Manager, support operational activities and the recruitment and selection of new staff, considering the needs of a collaborative team environment. Provide orientation and training to new staff as required. Provide input to the Operations Manager on performance evaluations of designated staff. Identify and support staff learning and clinical professional development needs.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or behavioural sciences and three to five years of experience in a specialized clinical field
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or behavioural sciences and three to five years of experience in a specialized clinical field
Alternatively, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and subsequent RN licence.
Registered or eligible for registration with a professional regulation body.
Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
Direct experience working with youth
Experience effectively engaging stakeholders and leading teams or initiatives
Experience developing policies and procedures and designing and implementing community-based programs
Experience in primary care considered an asset
Satisfactory criminal record check and clearance to work with vulnerable populations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Comprehensive understanding of mental health and addiction issues affecting adolescents, young adults, and families
Demonstrated experience with supervision processes, clinical supervision models, or the ability to assess learning needs, teach, coach, and provide clinical support
Demonstrated therapeutic skills in case management and individual, family, and group therapy for clients with diverse mental health and substance use challenges
Demonstrated understanding of trauma informed care and cultural safety principles
Knowledge of team based primary care and relevant legislation, regulations, policies, and certification requirements such as the Mental Health Act and Right to Information and Protection of Privacy legislation
Strong listening and consensus building skills to facilitate communication and decision making in interdisciplinary environments
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multicultural settings within an interprofessional team
Ability to manage crisis situations and lead staff in responding to client crises
Knowledge of the New Brunswick mental health system, community organizations, and mental health resources
Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills, English and French.
Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and effectiveness at the individual, program, and system levels
Motivation and passion for mental health and anti oppression work
Working Conditions
The standard work week is 37.5 hours
Flexible work hours may be required to meet operational needs
Travel within the province and service region is required
Access to reliable transportation is required
Work in multiple settings or in partnership with other health organizations is expected
Compensation
Salary Range:
$75,000 - $85,000 per year.

Integrated Youth Services is guided by the following core principles:

All IYS services aim to be culturally appropriate, youth centred, relevant, barrier free, timely, and accessible and are supported by the development of a learning health system.
