Position Overview

We are looking for a motivated self-starter who has experience in the building and installation of high-caliber custom pieces. The Custom Cabinet Maker is responsible for the build and installation of our world class wine cellars and will join the Production Team. There is the growth opportunity to also be an Installer and install the world’s best wine cellars in some of the world’s most exclusive properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carefully review and interpret CAD drawings and blueprints to determine product specifications, and verify dimensions to ensure accuracy and quality standards are being met
  • Accurately measure and mark dimensions of material prior to cutting, following drawing specifications, to ensure a precise fit and high-quality product the first time
  • Operate wood-working machines, including shapers, saws, band tools, and routers
  • Operate and use power and hand tools to cut, shape and form wood
  • Attach parts together to form complete units before sending to the Finishing department
  • Work in close collaboration with other team members on the Production floor and across the company, such as the Design team
  • Apply problem-solving and time-management skills throughout a project's production schedule
  • Assist with the wrapping of all parts of the project for transportation
  • Assist in loading the van with all parts and materials necessary for the project
  • Installers will be required to spend a large amount of time traveling to job sites across North America and occasionally overseas to install the projects themselves (which includes cooling units, lighting, etc.), delivering on our turnkey, white-glove service that Genuwine Cellars is known for
  • Participate in and demonstrate an understanding of safety principles and practices while following all safety protocols

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Minimum education: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred
  • At least 4 years of experience in the custom cabinet making industry
  • Ability to accurately read blueprints/technical drawings
  • Exceptional skill in operation and use of various wood-working tools; well-versed in aspects of custom millwork, fabrication, and construction
  • Strong knowledge of wood species and other materials used in the custom design/cabinet-making industry
  • Passionate about high-quality work and strong work ethic
  • An excellent attention to detail and degree of accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems effectively and make informed decisions
  • Strong time-management and prioritizing skills
  • A team player who is adaptable to change and can manage stress well

Extra qualifications:

- Experience in complex installations and/or journeyman ticket is an asset

- Possession of a valid Canadian passport is an asset

- A passing criminal background check for entry into the U.S. and other countries is preferred

- A valid Class 5 drivers’ license and ability to get a Class 3 in the future

  • Standard 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday (with the exception of Installs)
  • Willing and able to travel if required
  • Willing to work overtime as required
