Full job description

Cowichan Ophthalmology is a medical and surgical specialist office that serves a large and busy patient population in the Cowichan Valley. We have an immediate opening for a professional, motivated & reliable individual to join our ophthalmic team. Experience is preferred but on-site training and formal training as well as ongoing opportunities for growth are available to successful candidates.

Our successful candidate will be someone who:

  • Has experience working in an ophthalmic or optometric office and is familiar with aspects of patient screening, work-up and pre-testing (OCT, HVF, topography, photography, biometry).
  • May have experience assisting with office procedures including intravitreal injections.
  • May have experience in surgical counselling.
  • Is excellent at multitasking and can work accurately, with attention to detail, in a fast paced environment.
  • Is computer literate, efficient using Electronic Medical Records (Accuro) and curious to learn new software.
  • Is flexible and willing to work in a variety of office positions, including front desk, during the week and as needs arise. Is willing and motivated to learn new skills.
  • Is able to provide a positive and professional attitude towards both patients and staff.
  • Is able to work constructively in both an individual and team environment.
  • Is kind and caring with elderly patients.
  • Will maintain patient and office confidentiality without exception.

Wage will be competitively based on qualifications and experience.

Formal experience and training is preferred but onsite training available for the right candidate. Enrollment in ophthalmic technician course is an opportunity provided.
