You Are
A curious, collaborative, and strategically minded creative copy leader with deep experience in life sciences marketing and a passion for delivering meaningful outcomes for patients, providers, and brands. You bring strong expertise developing branded, promotional content across multiple brands and therapeutic areas, and you know how to translate complex science and clinical data into compelling, approvable messaging.
You combine sharp writing instincts with analytical rigor and a strong understanding of business strategy. You are comfortable leading in highly regulated environments, navigating MLR reviews, and partnering with cross-functional teams and clients to deliver work that is insight-led, compliant, and high impact.
You know when to operate at the strategic level and when to roll up your sleeves to drive execution. You are also a strong people leader—an experienced supervisor and mentor who invests in developing talent, elevating craft, and helping teams do their best work. Just as importantly, you are a confident client-facing professional who can present work persuasively, manage feedback thoughtfully, and build trust with stakeholders.
The Work
As an Associate Creative Director, Copy, you will lead the development of branded, promotional copy and content for healthcare audiences, including healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers. You will create messaging that captures attention, builds trust, and performs in a highly regulated life sciences environment.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams spanning creative, strategy, account, data and analytics, performance marketing, and experience design to create integrated, customer-centric campaigns and content. You will help shape content strategies that align to client business goals while ensuring all deliverables meet medical, legal, and regulatory standards.
You should bring experience creating content for both established and emerging channels, including digital platforms, CRM, paid media, web, and omnichannel experiences. You are skilled at identifying compelling narratives within clinical data, prescribing information, and brand strategy, and transforming them into content that is differentiated, compliant, and relevant.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of branded, promotional copy across a range of channels and formats for life sciences and healthcare clients.
- Translate scientific, clinical, and product information into clear, compelling, and compliant messaging for HCP, patient, and caregiver audiences.
- Present creative work internally and to clients with a clear strategic rationale, articulating how messaging supports campaign objectives and broader business goals.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including art and design, strategy, account management, data and analytics, and performance marketing to deliver integrated customer experiences.
- Ensure all content aligns with brand strategy, tone of voice, regulatory requirements, and medical/legal/compliance standards, including FDA and/or PAAB guidelines where applicable.
- Navigate MLR review processes confidently and efficiently, incorporating feedback while preserving strategic and creative integrity.
- Write and oversee both long-form and short-form content, including email, websites, landing pages, digital ads, direct mail, SMS, sales collateral, one-pagers, and other omnichannel assets.
- Develop impactful headlines, subject lines, calls to action, and messaging frameworks that drive acquisition, engagement, and retention.
- Use research, audience insights, and performance data to inform messaging and optimize content effectiveness across audience segments.
- Maintain consistency, quality, and voice across all deliverables, including work developed by junior team members.
- Contribute to campaign and content strategy, helping ensure creative output is aligned to client objectives and market opportunity.
- Manage timelines, priorities, and deliverable status with a high degree of organization, transparency, and accountability.
- Mentor and develop copywriters and junior creatives, providing feedback that elevates craft and supports career growth.
- Partner with Creative Manager to shape project plans, workflows, and quality standards to ensure work is delivered on time and at a high level of excellence.
Here’s What You’ll Need
- 6+ years of professional copywriting experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences, or healthcare fields.
- 3+ years of experience leading, mentoring, and reviewing the work of copywriters or junior creative team members.
- Proven experience developing branded, promotional content for HCP, patient, and caregiver audiences.
- Strong knowledge of FDA regulations, MLR review processes, and content submission requirements in regulated environments.
- A portfolio showcasing branded promotional pharmaceutical or healthcare work across channels for HCP and/or patient audiences is required.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret clinical data, prescribing information, and scientific materials to create compelling promotional narratives.
- Strong presentation and client management skills, with the ability to communicate ideas clearly and handle feedback effectively.
- Excellent collaboration skills and experience working across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Availability to support teams working in EST hours.
- High school diploma, GED, or CAEC.
Bonus Points If
- You have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- You have experience with PAAB-regulated content.
- You have experience in both pharmaceutical and MedTech marketing.
- You bring expertise tailoring content to distinct audience segments and stages of the customer journey.
- You have a passion for storytelling and strong capabilities across both long-form and short-form writing.
- You bring a highly collaborative, feedback-driven, and solutions-oriented mindset.
- You have experience developing content for emerging platforms, digital ecosystems, and omnichannel healthcare experiences.
