Full job description

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician for night shift who will be responsible for processing laboratory samples, on-site verifications, performing tests, cleaning, and maintaining a variety of laboratory equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform sample analysis using wet chemistry test methods such as titrations and microanalysis such as TPC, Coliforms, and E. Coli and Environmental Testing.
  • Autoclave and media making.
  • Participate in cleaning verification studies and sanitation protocols by collecting swab samples and performing micro testing.
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments – cleaning and calibration of equipment.
  • Monitor product flow on a continuous basis.
  • Ensure plant complies with GMPs, line testing, and food industry regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct GMP audits, Glass and Brittle plastic audits and other non-daily tasks at set intervals and reporting the deviations to management.
  • Monitor the supplies and chemical inventory on weekly basis.
  • Complete GMP training for new hires and refresher training for existing staff as needed.
  • Apply good documentation practices when generating raw data, reports, SOPs and other documentation.
  • Report to management any deviations from company procedures, or other discrepancies that may affect product quality or GMP status according to established procedures.
  • Write and/or execute validation and/or experimental protocols for laboratory equipment and test methods as required.
  • Ensure samples, equipment, and any required chemicals are handled properly to avoid contamination.
  • Ensure compliance with FEFO/FIFO for raw materials and ingredients.
  • Ensure the proper disposal of samples.
  • Strict adherence to all Company established procedures and policies, including Food Handling, Health and Safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Special projects or other duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Post-Secondary Education in Microbiology and/or a minimum 2 years of experience in analytical chemistry
  • Knowledge of GMP/GLP, OHSA, HACCP and SQF an asset
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrates initiative
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks in a fast paced, frequent deadline environment
  • Daily travel between the Vaughan sites and occasionally to the Orangeville site
  • Must possess a personal vehicle and a valid driver’s licence

Work Location: 100% On-Site - 111 Jevlan Drive Vaughan, ON
