Veterinary Technology Assistant

- Full Time

Located in the growing community of Seton in Southeast Calgary, Seton Veterinary Clinic is dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive, and high-quality medical care to companion animals. We pride ourselves on cultivating a supportive team environment, prioritizing work-life balance, and maintaining a modern, well-equipped practice.

We are currently looking for a detail-oriented, passionate Veterinary Technologist Assistant to join our collaborative team and support our Registered Veterinary Technologists (RVTs) and Veterinarians in delivering top-tier patient care.

List of Duties

  • Animal Handling and Restraint: Safely holding and calming animals during exams or treatments.
  • Assisting in Procedures: Supporting the vet during surgeries, diagnostic tests, and medical procedures.
  • Cleaning and Sterilizing Equipment: Maintaining a clean and sterile environment by disinfecting exam rooms and surgical tools.
  • Feeding and Grooming Animals: Ensuring pets are fed and groomed according to their needs while in the clinic.
  • Maintaining Patient Records: Updating patient charts with medical histories, treatments, and observations.
  • Assisting with Diagnostic Tests: Collecting samples (blood, urine, etc.) and preparing them for laboratory testing.
  • Client Communication: Answering basic questions about treatments or procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education/Experience: Completion of a recognized Veterinary Assistant Certificate program or 1+ years of hands-on experience in a veterinary clinical setting preferred.
  • Animal Handling: Demonstrated competence and confidence in handling and restraining small animals safely.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks required in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability: A proactive mindset, strong team-player attitude, and willingness to learn new protocols.
  • Availability: Flexibility to work a mix of weekday shifts, evenings, or weekend hours as needed.
