Position: HSE & Fleet Coordinator
Location: Canada Wide - Remote Work with occasional travel

Our mission is to deliver safe, cutting-edge and environmentally sustainable maintenance and construction services to railway track owners and operators across Canada. We design, build and maintain all levels of rail for various clients.

Job Description

HSE & Fleet Coordinator will be reporting to the Ownership. The HSE & Fleet Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership, support and maintenance for all HSE management systems. This is a stand-alone position which includes providing advice and consultation; coaching and facilitation; incident investigation and injury management, and any necessary reporting and record-keeping.

This role will also manage day-to-day vehicle and equipment operations. This will include all equipment servicing, vendor management, equipment logistics, responsible for fleet related policies, vehicle safety, yard and fleet management. These responsibilities will work directly with our operations team to ensure accurate operator training, documentation and management.

York Rail prioritizes a high level of safety in all aspects of our operations. An HSE professional with rail experience and a background in equipment management would be preferred. This is primarily a field-based position with the potential of travel.

Applicants must be able to:

· Pass a criminal background check

· Pass a drug test

· Posses a Valid Class 5 driver’s license

· Consider themselves physically fit

· Work outside in all weather conditions year round

Job Duties

HSE & Fleet Coordinator duties will be, but not limited to:

· Provide advice and consultation for programs in support of our corporate strategy for strong safety performance and continuous improvement

· Creating and managing various programs and imitative to build and sustain a safety culture throughout the organization

· Developing, maintaining, managing and training all HSE policies, plans, procedures and documentation

· Proactively identify plans to reduce hazards to reduce the risk to the organization

· Management of injury claims and regulatory reporting associated with those claims

· Coordinate and prepare HSE documentation that is commonly used by the business units

· Assist with creation of strategic initiatives to help with client interface

· Analyze safety conditions (primarily field-based) and recommend changes to continuously improve operational safety performance

· Assist with the maintenance of records as necessary to comply with relevant laws and regulations

· Prepare and submit reports to document both compliance and non-compliance issues

· Assist supervisors with their audits and inspections of operational activities

· Ensuring our fleet is clean, well-maintained, safe, cost-effective and operationally ready with minimal downtime

· Submitting and tracking maintenance claims, orders, disputes, relationship and all other functions related to equipment/vehicle management

· Ensuring regulatory compliance, including CVOR, MTO, and all mandated equipment inspections

· Managing all insurance, accidents, inspection and claims

· Responsible for all functions, policies, procedures and practices that go into fleet management and operations

Job Requirements:

· 3 Years of Class 1 Construction experience

· 1 Year of HSE in Rail experience

· 1 Year of Fleet Coordinator in Rail experience

· Experience with heavy rail equipment is an asset

· Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check & Drug Test

· Valid Class 5 Drivers Licenses

· First Aid Certification is an Asset

· Valid CROR Certification is an Asset

· Ability to work across Canada and be away from home for most of the month

· Fluent in English with the ability to read, write and speak effectively

· Willingness to work with hazardous materials such as creosote, lubricants, oil, gasoline and diesel fuel safely

· Ability to be exposed to continuous and regular loud noises

· Must be able to lift and carry at lease 50 pounds on occasional basis
