Overview
The Advanced First Aider, Emergency Medical Responder and Primary Care Paramedics play a critical role in emergency situations, providing immediate care and support to individuals in need. This position requires quick thinking, strong communication skills, and the ability to perform under pressure. First Aiders are often the first point of contact for patients and are responsible for assessing their condition and delivering appropriate medical assistance until further help arrives.

**Advanced First Aid certificate required for AFA role - not emergency first aid level c**

*** EMR and PCP must be registered in Manitoba to practice***

Duties

  • Per Diem offered at $40.00
  • Accommodation provided
  • Assess patients' conditions and provide necessary first aid or medical care.
  • Administer medications as required and ensure proper documentation of all treatments provided.
  • Communicate effectively with emergency services, hospitals, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient status.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of medical terminology to accurately relay information.
  • Perform heavy lifting when necessary to assist patients or transport them safely.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and ready for use in emergency situations.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with best practices in patient care.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of patient care techniques and protocols.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology to facilitate effective communication within healthcare settings.
  • Physical capability for heavy lifting and transporting patients as needed.
  • Experience working in a hospital or similar healthcare environment is advantageous.
  • Proficient in medication administration procedures and safety protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
