Full job description
An exciting opportunity for a highly detail-oriented, organized, and motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, team-based clinical environment and is eager to learn and grow within a leading model of care.
About Us
“The Waterside Clinic is a multidisciplinary Rheumatology, Clinical Immunology, and Allergy Clinic responsible for the care of thousands of patients with Rheumatic Disease and other Systemic Autoimmune and Allergic disorders. The clinic embraces a team-based model of care, working collaboratively with patients throughout their journey. This model is designed to improve access to services, reduce wait times, and enhance patient satisfaction.”
Opportunity
“A Medical Scribe is responsible for relieving a physician of their clerical duties, thereby allowing the physician to focus their attention on providing the best care to the patient. Scribes work in real time with the physician on the physician’s schedule.”
This role is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic, keen attention to detail, and a willingness to learn, seeking to develop their skills in a dynamic, fast-paced clinical setting. The successful candidate will serve as a critical link among clinical care, documentation, and administrative excellence, contributing meaningfully to patient outcomes.
Day in the Life
In a typical clinic session, you will work side by side with the physician in real time: listening, processing, and accurately documenting patient encounters while the clinic moves at a steady, fast pace.
You will regularly shift between patient interaction, detailed documentation, and administrative tasks, requiring focus, organization, and the ability to maintain precision even when things get busy.
Role Overview
The CAMS individual will:
- Join the multidisciplinary team at The Waterside Clinic (TWC), one of Canada’s leaders in team-based care, and represent a critical link between the clinical, administrative, and documentation teams.
- Perform a variety of key tasks that underpin the logistics required to ensure accurate, high-quality, and timely patient care.
- Engage with patients alongside the clinical team during encounters, documenting histories, physical examinations, and case summaries with a high degree of accuracy, focus, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrate the ability to work at a pace while maintaining precision, managing multiple streams of information in real time.
- Utilize strong organizational skills to ensure that all documentation is complete, compliant, and aligned with legislative and clinic standards.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance clarity, reduce errors, and improve workflow efficiency.
In addition to being skilled medical writers and researchers, the qualified candidate will possess a strong background in medical terminology and coding, and use computer software to update records, transcribe physicians’ reports, and process order sets.
This position is primarily in-clinic, with some virtual responsibilities. The individual must maintain a PHIPA-compliant workspace when working remotely.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome Patients: Bring patients to examination rooms or welcome them virtually. Introduce the physician, explain the visit process, and answer questions with professionalism and strong interpersonal awareness.
- Record Exam and Test Results: Work alongside medical professionals to record readings and clinical information accurately, consistently, and with attention to detail, using proper medical billing codes and terminology.
- Manage Electronic Medical Records: Update patient records in real time, ensuring documentation is organized, complete, and compliant with clinical and legislative standards.
- Check Medical Documents for Errors: Identify and resolve inaccuracies and clarity issues in documentation. Demonstrate a strong commitment to quality, precision, and continuous improvement.
- Handle General Office Tasks: Support clinic operations as required, demonstrating adaptability and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain structured, accurate workflows
- High attention to detail and commitment to precision
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-focus environment
- Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to established processes and standards
- Computer-literate with experience in Microsoft Office Suites
- Experience with EHR/EMR systems (Accuro an asset)
- Excellent typing skills (minimum 60 WPM preferred)
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- B.Sc. or other undergraduate degree is an asset
- Currently enrolled in or completion of a post-secondary program in a pre-health track
- Completion of medical terminology and human anatomy preferred
- Previous in-clinic experience required
- Transcription experience is an asset
- Phlebotomy is an asset
Why This Role?

- Take pride in doing things accurately and thoroughly
- Enjoy working in structured environments with clear expectations
- Thrive in fast-paced settings where focus and efficiency matter
- Are motivated to learn, grow, and contribute to patient care
Additional Details
- Contract Length: 6 months
- Schedule: Monday to Friday (clinic hours 8am–8pm Mon–Thurs, 8am–4pm Fri)
- Compensation based on experience
- Opportunity for a permanent full-time position
