The Ingram School of Nursing (ISoN) at McGill University invites applications for a part-time position (nil-salary) as a member of the Contract Academic Staff, to participate in the academic duties of Education, Service, and/or Research at ISoN.

The Ingram School of Nursing values the contribution of clinically based nurses and other health professionals who contribute to its mission of educating current and future nurses, advancing the art and science of nursing, and optimizing health and health equity globally through academic excellence, strengths-based nursing and innovation.

Appointments offer opportunities for mentorship, leadership, and professional development while nurturing the future generation of nursing leaders. Academic appointment gives access to the electronic system of McGill Libraries and a McGill email.

Appointment may be offered to an individual in recognition of ongoing involvement at the ISoN. Applicants must demonstrate dedication (past, current, and/or future initiatives).

Appointed clinically based faculty members are engaged to fulfill the roles outlined in their position descriptions, in the areas of administration, teaching, and/or research as outlined in their letters of offer. In addition, appointees are invited to maintain regular contact with ISoN through their preferred contact information.

The appointee is expected to keep track of their contributions to the ISoN mandates as this will be important information for the assessment of appointment renewal, at which time, contributions in the last three years will be assessed.

A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is also expected.

For consideration, the candidate submits the following documents:

  • An electronic version of an updated curriculum vitae
  • A letter of intent containing the following:
  • A statement about the candidates’ motivation to apply and an outline of past and future contributions to ISoN
  • Specific details as to how the candidate will be involved in their mandate (1-3 years)
  • The description of their past or potential contributions to ISoN should focus on the following categories:
  • Research and Other Scholarly activities
  • Administration and Practice
  • Two names of ISoN faculty members with whom they will be working and who can serve as references
  • Eligibility includes active membership in a Professional Order.

For questions or clarifications, please contact the Committee Chair for ISoN CAS Nil-Salary Appointment, Prof. Annie Chevrier at annie.chevrier2@mcgill.ca

McGill University is committed to equity and diversity within its community and values academic rigour and excellence. We welcome and encourage applications from racialized persons/visible minorities, women, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, ethnic minorities, and persons of minority sexual orientations and gender identities, as well as from all qualified candidates with the skills and knowledge to engage productively with diverse communities.

At McGill, research that reflects diverse intellectual traditions, methodologies, and modes of dissemination and translation is valued and encouraged. Candidates are invited to demonstrate their research impact both within and across academic disciplines and in other sectors, such as government, communities, or industry.

McGill further recognizes and fairly considers the impact of leaves (e.g., family care or health-related) that may contribute to career interruptions or slowdowns. Candidates are encouraged to signal any leave that affected productivity, or that may have had an effect on their career path. This information will be considered to ensure the equitable assessment of the candidate’s record.

McGill implements an employment equity program and encourages members of designated equity groups to self-identify. It further seeks to ensure the equitable treatment and full inclusion of persons with disabilities by striving for the implementation of universal design principles transversally, across all facets of the University community, and through accommodation policies and procedures. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply; however, in accordance with Canadian immigration requirements, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
