Position Title
Medical Device Reprocessing Instructor - Part Time
Faculty/Instructor Profile
The School of Health and Wellness at Red Deer Polytechnic is currently inviting applications for a part time Instructor in the Medical Device Reprocessing Certificate program. This program prepares graduates for an exciting and challenging career as a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician.
In a blended learning environment, this program will help students learn how to gather, take apart, clean, disinfect, decontaminate, reassemble, package, sterilize, store, and distribute surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for reuse in a health care facility.
The School of Health and Wellness provides exceptional opportunities to work closely with students, faculty and staff in an innovative, supportive environment that promotes creativity, scholarship, and commitment to student success. RDP offers an excellent professional development program that helps faculty to continuously develop skills, knowledge, and expertise specific to teaching and learning as well as their respective discipline.

Position Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Teaching students in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings.
- Creating a stimulating, effective, and learning-centered environment.
- Marking, grading, and evaluation of student work.
- Providing ongoing feedback, guidance, and assistance to students.
- Actively contributing and participating in program planning, curriculum development & review, project work, and scholarly activity.
- Participating in School and Institution-wide initiatives and/or committees.
- Demonstrating and promoting RDP organizational values and following
RDP policies and practices.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary degree in a health-related discipline.
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (HSPA) or Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (CSA).
- 3 to 5 years of recent and relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team-based context.
- Excellent demonstrated collaboration skills and a strong commitment to quality patient care.
- A desire and enthusiasm to educate students with diverse backgrounds and knowledge, along with your superb presentation, interpersonal and team buildings kills make you an ideal candidate.
- As a creative self-starter, you have been recognized for your high energy and your commitment to excellence.
- You are innovative and committed to life-long learning and reflective practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current CPR-Health Care Provider
- A master’s level degree in a related field.
- Relevant teaching experience.

Benefits and Compensation Information
Part-time Instructors:
- Receive an additional 14% of their gross salary in lieu of benefits and vacation pay.
- Part-time instructors are not eligible for comprehensive health and dental benefits packages.
- Eligible for individual professional development funding, additional free professional development opportunities offered through the institution.
