SUMMARY
The Vice President of Sales is responsible for leading Erb’s sales strategy for transportation and logistics services across current and future markets. This role drives sustainable revenue growth, strengthens key customer partnerships, and ensures alignment with operational capacity and service excellence. The VP of Sales will lead a national sales team, optimize account management strategies, and position Erb as a preferred carrier within the food-grade and refrigerated freight market. This role plays a critical part in shaping the company’s growth trajectory and strengthening its market position across Canada and key cross-border lanes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Planning
  • Develop and execute a national sales strategy aligned with Erb’s growth objectives in temperature-controlled transportation
  • Identify expansion opportunities across key sectors (e.g., food manufacturing, grocery, distribution, and retail)
  • Drive diversification of the customer portfolio while strengthening core accounts
  • Partner with Operations to ensure sales growth aligns with network capacity and service capabilities
Revenue Growth & Account Strategy
  • Own revenue targets, margin performance, and profitable growth
  • Oversee key account strategy, including retention, contract negotiations, and long-term partnerships
  • Lead pricing strategy in collaboration with Finance and Operations, balancing competitiveness with profitability
  • Monitor lane performance, freight mix, and customer profitability
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales and account management team
  • Establish clear performance metrics (KPIs) including revenue growth, margin, and customer retention
  • Build succession plans and support leadership development within the sales function
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer focus
Customer & Market Engagement
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key customers and strategic partners
  • Represent Erb in industry associations, customer meetings, and business development initiatives
  • Monitor market trends including capacity, rates, and competitor activity within the transportation sector
  • Ensure a strong understanding of customer supply chain needs and evolving service expectations
Operational Alignment
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Dispatch, and Network Planning to ensure service delivery aligns with customer commitments
  • Support onboarding of new business, ensuring smooth integration and service execution
  • Work with cross-functional teams to resolve service issues and improve customer experience
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and food safety standards relevant to refrigerated transport
Sales Operations & Reporting
  • Oversee CRM utilization (e.g., pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and reporting)
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership on sales performance, market conditions, and strategic initiatives
  • Analyze data to drive decision-making related to pricing, customer mix, and sales effectiveness
Other Duties
  • Perform additional responsibilities as directed by the President to support company objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field (MBA considered an asset)
  • 10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience, preferably in transportation, logistics, or supply chain
  • Strong understanding of temperature-controlled/refrigerated transportation is highly preferred
  • Proven track record of driving profitable growth and managing large customer portfolios
  • Experience leading national or multi-regional sales teams
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Travel required across Canada and potentially cross-border (U.S.)
  • Fast-paced, customer-driven transportation environment
  • Availability outside standard hours as required to support operations and customers
