JOB PURPOSE

This is clinical and leadership work in the field of medical physics, involving the diagnostics and therapeutic uses of radioactive materials, as well as other radiation sources, and the safety of their environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master of Science degree in Medical or Radiological Physics from a recognized university
  • Completion of a 2-year residency program
  • Membership in the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM)
  • Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
  • Ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Good work record.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide clinical medical physics support for radiation oncology services.
  • Participate in treatment planning, quality assurance, commissioning, and radiation safety activities.
  • Support advanced treatment techniques including SRS/SRT, SBRT, DIBH, SGRT, and HDR brachytherapy.
  • Collaborate with physicists, dosimetrists, engineering technologists, and radiation oncology staff to ensure safe and effective patient care.
  • Participate in on-call coverage rotation shared among the physics team.
  • Contribute to research, development, and innovation initiatives within the department.
  • Engage in professional development and certification activities as required.
  • Support departmental initiatives, workflow improvements, and implementation of emerging technologies.

These job duties are only the basic and prime duties of the job; related and allied duties may be assigned from time to time as may become necessary to the operation of the service.
