Promote Health and Well-Being Through Exercise and Movement

As an Exercise Physiologist at Harrison, you bring deep knowledge and genuine passion for movement and its relationship to positive health outcomes and longevity. Reporting to the Senior Director of Clinical Operations, you work with clients of all abilities to address their movement and fitness goals; helping them overcome personal barriers, fostering a healthy relationship with exercise and physical activity, and discovering what truly motivates them. You are a key part of our multidisciplinary care team, where your expertise in exercise science directly shapes how clients feel, move, and thrive.

We are seeking availability of 3-5 days per week; both part-time and full-time schedules will be considered based on candidate availability.

Responsibilities:

  • Client Support & Goal Setting: Use exercise and movement to promote health and well-being through education, assessment, collaboration, and motivation. Support clients with preventive care, chronic disease and pain management, movement and exercise prescription, performance and fitness optimization, injury prevention and active rehabilitation, exercise programming and form correction, and lifestyle and stress management techniques.
  • Assessment & Testing: Conduct standardized assessments including VO₂max, submaximal graded aerobic exercise tolerance testing, body composition, functional movement screening (ex., FMS), balance (ex., single leg balance testing, modified CTSIB, balance and fall risk assessments), strength (ex., grip, squat, push up, dead hang, IMTP), senior’s fitness testing, and biomechanical assessments with ergonomic recommendations. Provide appropriate assessment protocols and post-visit reports on the health status of each client, including results of tests, assessments, and referrals.
  • Exercise Programming: Design and deliver personalized exercise programs in accordance with CSEP and ACSM guidelines. Provide ongoing case management support and intervention prescription tailored to each client’s goals and health status.
  • Client Education: Engage clients in education on chronic disease management and prevention, fall and injury prevention, sleep hygiene, and stress management. Collaborate with internal experts on client education initiatives such as webinars, articles, and other resources.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Document client interactions and progress accurately and in a timely manner. Compile comprehensive health status reports incorporating assessment results, test findings, and referrals.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Take a multidisciplinary approach to comprehensive client care, working with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Dietitians, Registered Nurses, Mental Health Care Navigators, the Medical Laboratory Team, and more to optimize wellness.
  • Technology & Innovation: Utilize technology to enhance care coordination and client education. Apply expert knowledge of movement and exercise science to deliver precise, evidence-informed assessments and interventions.

Experience you Bring & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or equivalent, with at minimum a CPT designation from CSEP or ACSM.
  • Completion of a Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) designation through CSEP or ACSM is encouraged; Harrison will provide professional development support to achieve this goal.
  • Experience with graded exercise tolerance testing (stress test with ECG), VO₂max testing, and/or Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET).
  • Minimum two years of clinical experience in primary health care, including patient assessment in acute, community, or outpatient settings, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Genuine passion for physical activity and movement, viewing exercise as a form of medicine.
  • Independent, proactive, and self-motivated, with initiative to continuously develop skills and pursue professional growth opportunities.

Why work at Harrison?

  • Join Canada’s leader in preventative primary care, with five clinics nationally and continued growth across the country. Be part of a team shaping the future of healthcare delivery.
  • Make a meaningful difference every day by improving the health and quality of life of the clients and communities we serve.
  • Be valued and supported through a culture of collaboration, compassion, innovation, and excellence where every voice matters.
  • Grow your skillsets with an annual professional development allowance, paid development days, and ongoing learning opportunities designed to support both your personal and professional growth.
  • Enjoy a competitive total rewards package, including performance bonuses, comprehensive health and dental benefits with significant employer premium contributions, health spending and wellness accounts, employer-matched RRSP contributions, and reimbursement for professional dues
